News on Level, Flow & Inventory Management
Practical Tip  -----------------
Should you inspect your silo level indicators?
SiloPatrol Level Sensors
Silo level sensors normally do not need much attention; However, a periodic maintenance inspection on your level indicators may be helpful to prevent any future mishaps. Now might be a good time to check, especially in areas that will be cold soon. Nobody enjoys climbing silos in "freezing" weather.

Example Checklist for SiloPatrol® Level Sensor
SiloPatrol The SiloPatrol® plumb bob level sensors do not require a lot of "messing" with. Therefore a regularly scheduled maintenance procedure for these units is not necessary. We do, however, recommend for optimum performance that the following things be checked and performed on the SiloPatrol from time to time.

For the Wiper Seal & Brush:

Ensure cable freely travels through the entire wiper seal assembly.
Clean wiper seal and brush as needed (compressed air or a toothbrush or similar works great) or replace if excessively worn.
For the Cable:
Ensure there are no kinks, bends, "fish hooks" and knots on the cable .
Ensure the jacketing is not fraying or peeling off the cable. Replace as needed
For the Rollers:
The white rollers on the cable side of the SiloPatrol unit should spin in both directions freely.
The black wheel should spin freely. Ensure that it is tight on its 'Z' axis. (You can't push the black wheel in and out a significant distance.)

Also, check the silicone tire in the measurement wheel for cracks or wear. Replace measurement wheel if worn.
For the Plumb Bob:
nsure the plumb bob is clean and securely attached to the cable.
Verify that plumb bob attachment hardware is in good condition.

The Reliable and Versatile TrueCap RF Capacitance Level Sensor
TrueCap Series
Monitor's TrueCap® Series RF Capacitance Level Sensors
The RF capacitance probe is a point level sensor that uses the principles of capacitance to detect or measure the level of a powder, solid or a liquid / slurry.
( Click Here For More Details) Monitor Technologies offers a complete line of RF capacitance probes. We offer two models: the top of the line TrueCap® MK-2 and the cost-minded MK-2e.
Units are available with many options to handle the most demanding applications including a tri-clamp connection version, stub probe version, cable extension version, hazardous location option, remote electronics version and more.

TrueCap® RF Capacitance Level Sensor Ben efits:
- Superior 0.5pF Sensitivity
Temperature Compensation

Automatic Material Build-Up Immunity. The TrueCap MK-2 and MK-2e contain driven shield technology that allows the sensor to "ignore" material build-up on the probe. Build-up on a probe without this type of technology can cause false sensing.
Push-Button (MK-2) or Potentiometer-Adjusted (MK-2e) Calibration Sensitivity and Delay

Time Delay Function Helps to Eliminate Premature "Material-Present" Indication That Can Sometimes Occur During the Filling Process if Material Was to Intermittently Come in contact with the level probe.
Maximized Reliability via Smart Sensing Algorithms Including "Self-Validating" Fail-Safe Protection (on MK-2 version)
Externally Viewable LED Sensor Status Indicator Ordinary Loc. Unit
Hazardous Location Approvals for Gases Dust Avail.
Optional Split Architecture Model
Typical Applications Include:
> High, low and intermediate level sensing in bins, silos, tanks, hoppers, and other vessels.
Target materials that are sticky, viscous, or clingy.

Sensor can be used to turn ON or OFF critical processes based on the detected presence or non-presence of material. This can reduce energy costs and overfills .
The MK-2 / MK-2e can also be used for plugged chute detection .
Most powder and bulk solid materials including: Pellets, Food Ingredients,Feed and Grain, Granular Solids, Cement, Sand / Gravel, Plastics, Coal, Pigments, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and more.
Liquids and slurries including: Waste waters, Chemicals, Paints, Coatings, etc.
TrueCap With Cable Extension
TrueCap® RF Capacitance Level Sensor W/ Cable Extension
Probe Configuration Examples:
TrueCap® with Cable Extension:
Using a cable extension probe on a MK-2e level indicator can extend the sensing point to as much as 50 feet (15m) beneath the mounting point. (Unit must be vertically [top] mounted.)
A cable extension probe will also provide greater "flex" as compared to a solid probe for demanding applications involving dynamic material conditions.

TrueCap® with Stub Probe:
The stub probe model (a shorter version of the standard
TrueCap With Stub Probe
TrueCap® with Stub Probe
probe) allows the TrueCap to be used in tighter spaces, used to limit mechanical forces placed on the probe from material flow or to keep the probe out of the main material stream.

TrueCap® with Quick-Connect:
TrueCap With Quick Disconnect
TrueCap® with Quick-Connect
The "quick-connect" tri-clamp process connection option provides easy installation and removal of the TrueCap® unit for cleaning purposes. This connection has no exposed threads and offers an affordable solution for general sanitation situations not requiring 3-A rating. The tri-clamp connection is available for the Ryton® and Nylon (food grade) probe versions.
