Freshman students Jared Goering and Spencer Steinert have been thinking of ways to improve the education system since they were 14 years old. Since enrolling at Wichita State University, that's exactly what they've been working to do.  They have a vision for a product that will focus on educating kids for technology and skills of the future, instead of focusing on using technology that may not be relevant when elementary students reach the workforce. Horse WSU Senior pursues goals with out-of-the-box thinking, takes new opportunity
 
Wichita State University awards out of-the-box thinking, and for social work senior Rick Rangel, it was this kind of thinking that changed his perspective on social work and won him the Bright Future award from WSU Ventures.  As an Army veteran, Rangel wanted to find a practicum that allowed him to give back to that community. During his search he found that most work with veterans required master's level students for practicum work. Read more...  
 
NewVentureShocker  New Venture Competition trade show is April 21 

The Shocker New Venture Competition, hosted by Wichita State University's Center for Entrepreneurship will hold its annual trade show Friday April 21 from 2-6 p.m. in Charles Koch Arena. Sixteen startup concepts will compete to make it to the final round for a chance at $10,000 in start-up capital and in-kind services. The competition is designed to inspire campus innovation and develop  entrepreneurial mindsets. This annual event challenges students from all academic disciplines to showcase their innovative ideas and projects utilizing entrepreneurial concepts. Learn more...
MarchSBIREvent Recap:  March SBIR Preparation Workshop  

The SBIR Prep Workshop held March 19 drew a crowd of more than 40 attendees. The program included an overview of the U.S. Small Business Administration's Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs, agency briefings and phase 1 proposal prep workshops. We would like to thank all who attended, especially Robert Smith from the U.S. Navy and Scott Dockum from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.
