California’s community colleges can now create an unlimited number of web security certificates as part of their membership in the InCommon Federation, affording significant cost savings for districts that own multiple web domains.
Security Matters: Ransomware
Ransomware has been in the news lately, with one of California’s community colleges having recently fallen victim to it. If you are not familiar with the term, ransomware is a type of malicious malware.

It encrypts the content of your hard drive and demands that you pay a ransom to regain access to your data. If you don’t contact the criminals and pay the ransom within a set time period, your files are lost forever.

OEI Updates: What Lies Ahead In 2017
The end of 2016 and move into 2017 kicks off a transition to a new phase for the California Community Colleges (CCC) Online Education Initiative (OEI). The Online Course Exchange, developed by the California Community Colleges (CCC) Online Education Initiative (OEI), has recently been in the spotlight, with Fresno City College and Lake Tahoe Community College this month becoming the first to cross-enroll students into courses.
Accessibil-IT: A Refresh Of Section 508 Standards
On Jan. 18, the Information and Communication Technology Standards and Guidelines rule was published in the Federal Register, and brought to an end a nearly eight-year process of updating and “refreshing” the U.S. Section 508 Standards.
