April 2025

Dear Technion Community,

In my tenure at Technion Canada, I've found what astounds me even more than the technologies that emerge from Technion labs, is the relentless pace of our innovation ecosystem. Seeing one groundbreaking advancement after another from the Technion can be frustrating at times, as I wonder "Why don't more people take notice of what we're doing here?" That's why this month, I'm excited to highlight a few amazing achievements that are gaining international recognition:

  • Record-Breaking Acquisition: Google just acquired Wiz, founded by our own alumnus Assaf Rappaport, in both the largest exit in Israeli history and Google's biggest acquisition ever.
  • Healthcare Innovation Recognition: AISAP, co-founded by Technion alumnus Professor Ehud Raanani, has earned the #4 spot on Fast Company's 2025 list of most innovative healthcare companies for their groundbreaking work in AI-driven medical diagnostics.
  • Patent Powerhouse: For the fourth consecutive year, the Technion leads all Israeli institutions in U.S. patent approvals with 43 registrations in 2024, ranking second in Europe and 89th globally on the National Academy of Inventors list.

It's moments like these that remind me why I'm so proud to be part of this community. The incredible talent and innovation coming out of the Technion continues to shape industries and improve lives around the world. I hope these achievements bring you as much joy and pride as they bring me!

Looking forward to seeing what we accomplish next.
