     ASA Offers FUSE Technology Program

Three-D printing, computer circuitry that produces party lights, CAD design of the ideal house. These are a few of the challenges students undertake in the FUSE program. Sponsored by Northwestern University, FUSE offers students opportunities to dive into learning through hands-on challenges involving technology. With more than 20 challenges to choose from, students work at their own pace to explore their interests and test their skills. The program is designed to promote critical thinking.

The FUSE program is incorporated into career exploration at ASA. Students are also learning the Microsoft Office Suite in preparation for the certification exam, an asset as students prepare for college or careers.

Dual Enrollment Offers Credit for
High School and College Classes

Even before graduating from high school, eleven ASA students are already earning college credit, thanks to the dual enrollment program through City Colleges of Chicago. Currently taking classes at Malcolm X College are: Christy West, Serena Meeks, Laveda Shelton, Aaliyah McIntosh (pictured in photo above), Fabyn Holloway, Courtney Jordan, Amiryah Beal, Lavonte Love, Genise Ware, Daeja Osborne and Tyler Lucas (pictured in photo below).

The dual enrollment program is sponsored by Youth Connection Charter Schools (YCCS), offering high school students a jumpstart on earning college credit. The program reduces the time and money students need to spend on college. To participate in the program, students need to be in good standing, have a solid academic record, and demonstrate the responsibility necessary to attend a class outside of ASA.
