Quarterly News & Updates

Paul Hughes

As Techsil begins its 27th year, I would like to start our first newsletter of 2016 by wishing all of our customers and suppliers a very happy and successful new year.

This time last year, I wrote that it was our aim in 2015 to reduce our customer discrepancies to invoice ratio from 1.85% to 1%. Sadly, we only achieved 1.7%, which equates to around 100 invoices out of 6000 for the calendar year. As a result, we will continue towards this target as a priority to ensure we are correctly fulfilling our place in the supply chain. As ever, any feedback you can provide to help us fulfil this ambition will be gratefully received.

Our other priorities this year are to extend our product range, either through acquisition or supply partnerships, provide targeted and informed information to our client base on new products and applications and continue to develop our website as a leading resource centre for our sector.

Kind Regards, Paul Hughes, M.D. paulh@techsil.co.uk

New RYOBI® Battery Powered Portable Hot Melt Glue Gun

Techsil have launched the B-Tec 807 high performance industrial glue gun. The gun is battery powered, fully portable, easy to use and quick to charge via the RYOBI® battery platform.

It takes the full range of tecbond® 12mm glue sticks and can be used for a variety of different applications including product assembly, polycarbonate and plastic bonding, box sealing, metal dent pulling and wood working.

New Jettable Conductive Adhesives with Snap Cure from Panacol

Techsil introduce new adhesives with improved conductivity to the UK market. Jet dispense compatibility and snap cure make these conductive adhesives the ideal choice for high speed production.

Used for: Shielding and ESD protection, Electrically conductive contacting and bonding of conducting paths within the electronic field, Electrically conductive bonding on circuit boards and PCBs, Die bonding and Flip chips.

T he new Elecolit® silver filled adhesives are both electrically and thermally conductive and available in a range of viscosities to accommodate various applications and requirements. As the conductivity is strongly dependent on the content of conductive filler, Panacol uses uniquely shaped filling materials to achieve an optimal fill ratio. This ensures high conductivity and consistent product performance.

Video: PeelTec 210 peelable hotmelt

PeelTec 210 is the first peelable hotmelt from Powe r Adhesives - a 'fugitive' glue used for creating temporary bonds that can easily be peeled apart. The adhesive is white in colour, very fast setting and does not leave an oily residue when removed - ensuring no damage occurs to either surface.

Compatible with metals, plastics, paper and board, this glue is ideal for credit card attachment, promotional items that can to be removed from a mailing letter, magazine or backing card. Or product packaging where a temporary bond is required.

To apply PeelTec 210, use any good quality 12mm glue gun that works at 195°C or higher. This grade is food safe and benefits from FDA approval.
Silicone Mouldmaking Rubber is Best in Class for Industrial Prototyping

Techsil® RTV27941 is a translucent liquid silicone rubber designed with mould making in mind. When mixed this two part casting resin kit cures at room temperature to a flexible 41 Shore A translucent silicone rubber with a linear shrinkage of 0.1%.

As a mould RTV27941 offers excellent release-ability, with fantastic durability when used with both epoxy and polyurethane resins. These properties are due to its high tear (620 N/mm) and tensile (6.4 MPa) strengths, along with elongation of 360%. RTV27941 is perfect for prototype mould making across a range of industries; favoured in the electronics industry for making home appliance moulds, along with TV's, mobile phones and copy machines. In the Automotive Industry, RTV27941 is proving popular for creating console box moulds, radiator grills and light housings.
