Queens Village, NY – January 5, 2026. The National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) appointed Tedra Smith, DNP, CRNP, CPNP-PC, CNE, CHSE, as National League for Nursing (NLN) Consultant to the NSNA Board of Directors (BOD). In her new role, Dr. Smith will provide exceptional guidance and mentorship to future nursing leaders. Her role will be pivotal in shaping the next generation of nurses and contributing to the advancement of the nursing profession as a whole.
"Serving as the NLN Consultant to the NSNA Board of Directors is more than a role," Dr. Smith said. "It’s a commitment to shaping the future of nursing through mentorship, guidance, and the empowerment of emerging leaders. Through mentorship, I can share knowledge and personal experiences but also cultivate leadership, professionalism, and a passion for lifelong learning."
Dr. Tedra Smith is Interim Assistant Dean for Graduate Clinical Education - DNP and associate professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also currently serves as secretary on the National League for Nursing Board of Governors/Executive Committee. She is a pediatric nurse practitioner at the Children's of Alabama - Emergency, with a specialization in primary care. She has more than 13 years of experience as a pediatric nurse including primary, emergency and preanesthesia care.

Dr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University at Montgomery and a Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
