November and December
TLC Service Projects
We are always so inspired by the many ways in which our service-minded teens are working to change the world! Over the next few months, we are excited to have several upcoming TLC projects that will help our teens and families give back in different ways.
Midnight Run
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10

The Midnight Run is a Bet Torah classic! Every year, our teens love going into Manhattan to interact with unhoused people in real, human ways. More than the food and supplies we distribute, it is the dignity of conversation that serves the social and emotional needs of the homeless.

The Midnight Run is one of the most popular TLC events of the year. For the past few years, we’ve had to open a waiting list, which has caused lots of stress to teens and parents. Personal interaction is the hallmark of Midnight Run; to keep the quality of the program, we cannot bring more than 25 teens.

To allow the most teens to participate over the course of their time in TLC, we will be allowing upperclassmen to sign up for the Run first .
We put together this new process with lots of thought and consideration for the needs of our community. We know younger teens may be disappointed this year but hope they look forward to participating in the future.
Parent and Teen Pop-Up Giving Circle
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8, EVENING IN HOST HOME

A giving circle is a group of people who pool their donations and decide where to give together. Our TLC Parent-Teen Pop-Up Giving Circle will be rooted in Jewish values. We will decide for ourselves what our values are, what the mission of our circle is, and what we want our charitable dollars to support.
Teens Host Dinner for Homeless Shelter Guests
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15, 7:30-9:30PM AT BET TORAH

Bet Torah will be hosting 15-20 people who live locally, but cannot afford food and shelter through the winter from the Emergency Shelter Partnership (ESP) all week. On Sunday, our teens in 8th-12th grade will be taking the lead.

Families can sign up to help other nights this week. Email socialaction@bettorah.org with any questions.

Thanksgiving Food Distribution
with Northern Westchester Multifaith Partnership
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20

Bet Torah's teens will be invited to support efforts of the new Northern Westchester Multifaith Partnership to distribute turkeys and other food items to the clients of the Mt. Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry.

Only limited spaces will be available as this project will include collaboration with both Muslim and Christian teens. More information coming soon!
At TLC, teens in 8th-12th grade explore their rich Jewish heritage and challenging modern lives through a variety of learning and community building programs. We offer teens flexible scheduling and ownership of their own education, ways to  KNOW BELONG , and  DO .
