The motorcoach industry moves 400 million passengers each year, supports 500,000 jobs, and generates $90 billion in economic impact. It also serves as a national transportation reserve, evacuating communities, supporting military deployments, and transporting people during disasters.
The Intercity Over-the-Road Bus Security Grant Program, which funds onboard surveillance, GPS tracking, driver security training, and yard safety upgrades, is now at risk of elimination. Established after 9/11, this program is critical for keeping passengers, drivers, and communities safe.
Congress must act to preserve this program at $2 million for FY 2026. Without it, operators lose vital resources to prevent and respond to security threats—jeopardizing both national resilience and public safety.
We urge lawmakers to stand with the motorcoach industry and protect this funding. The safety of millions of travelers depends on it.
