Tell DEQ that you support the Align Renewable Natural Gas project in Sampson and Duplin counties
We need your help. Please take two minutes today to click and send an email to DEQ on an issue that is important to pig farmers and our eastern North Carolina communities. We have provided a draft letter, but feel free to make any changes.

The issue: The Division of Air Quality is accepting public comments on a draft permit for Align RNG , a partnership between Dominion Energy and Smithfield Foods that will use covered digesters to convert manure into renewable energy on 19 Duplin and Sampson County pig farms. The deadline for comments is Tuesday, June 16.

The deadline is June 16.
This project, similar to the Optima KV operation in Kenansville, provides significant benefits for farmers, local communities and our environment. It will make North Carolina the nation’s largest producer of renewable natural gas — creating new jobs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transforming the future of renewable energy and agriculture.

This project reflects our industry’s commitment to continuously improve. Sadly, many activists are opposed to it and will never be satisfied with our efforts to protect the environment. This is why we need to make our voices heard.

Thank you for continuing to show your support for North Carolina’s pork industry and our family farmers.
