Admissions Window is Now Open! 

Today marks the beginning of our 2017-18 admissions cycle. Please spread the word about our excellent schools! Forward this email or print and share the  one-page application with anyone who may be interested in enrolling at SVA or BOA.

  • December 12 - applications available
  • January 10- 6:00PM informational meeting
  • January 12- 8:00AM school tour
  • January 23- 6:00PM informational meeting
  • February 2- 8:00AM school tour
  • February 14- 6:00PM informational meeting
  • February 15 @NOON- deadline to submit applications
  • February 15 @6:00PM- lottery

Fast Facts About BOA

 

  • K-8, site-based charter school. Opening K-2 and adding grades over time.
  • Opening in the fall of 2017, proposed location in north central Visalia
  • Replication of Sycamore Valley Academy, both of which are to be managed by a 501c3 Charter Management Organization ("CMO"), The Academies, led by SVA and BOA founder Superintendent Ruth Dutton.

Here's a few quick facts for you to share when you talk about our amazing school. There are a lot of myths about charter schools, and SVA, floating around out there, so help us set the record straight!

 

  • SVA and BOA are FREE PUBLIC SCHOOLS open to anyone who is interested in attending.
  • Applying is easy! Just fill out a simple one-page application.
  • Parent involvement/volunteering is encouraged, but not required. 
  • Charter schools are held to strict accountability standards for both student achievement and financial management. 
  • SVA and BOA are run by The Academies, a nonprofit 501c3 corporation. 
  • We're in high demand and we're opening a new school to serve more students beginning Fall 2017. 
  • After school care is available on a sliding scale (free to those who qualify). 
  • Bus Transportation is available to SVA from 6 Visalia elementary schools. 
  • Spanish translation is always available, just give us a call!
