YOUR ACTION CAN HELP KEEP FRACKING OUT OF FLORIDA!
SB 318 was heard for three hours in the Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday,
during which a large strike-all amendment was added to the bill. The bill was voted down, but Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto voted against the bill in order to bring it back up for reconsideration. The bill will be heard again on Tuesday, March 1.
"This amendment is just putting lipstick on a pig," said LWVF President Pamela Goodman. "We expect this bill will come up again for reconsideration, and it cannot be allowed to pass."
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1. CONTACT your Senator and let them know that you do not want fracking IN ANY FORM in the state of Florida! Vote NO on SB 318. To find your Senator, click here.
2. CALL Chair Tom Lee and members of his Appropriations Committee. THANK the ones who voted NO and ask that those who voted YES reconsider their vote. Let them know that Floridians do NOT want fracking in our state!
