Happy 20th Birthday to Lake Elsinore Storm
On April 15, 1994 the Lake Elsinore Storm opened its gates to the community and Southern California. This season on Opening Night, April 10, the organization will commence a 20th Anniversary celebration at The Diamond that promises to be special.
The 20th Anniversary Logo commemorates two decades of baseball in Lake Elsinore and will be displayed on game jerseys, team hats and the infield grass, as well as throughout the community with a 20th Anniversary poster.
The Storm will kick off festivities with their "20 to Remember" campaign, selecting the Top 20 Storm players as chosen by fans via social media and at the ballpark. Stars such as Darin Erstad, Joe Urso, John Lackey, Jake Peavy, Xavier Nady, Chase Headley and Jedd Gyorko will be some of the many players to be on the ballot.
The Storm Souvenir Store will feature a bobblehead quartet of All-Stars including John Lackey, Darin Erstad, Jake Peavy and Chase Headley. This collectable set will be issued individually in May, June, July & August.
The Storm, a San Diego Padres affiliate and former Los Angeles Angels affiliate, will have many special surprises for guests on Opening Night as well as the return of an iconic fan favorite.
On Saturday, June 7, the Storm will host an Alumni Night, welcoming back former players who once called The Diamond their home.
Additional Storm 20th Anniversary promotions will be announced leading up to the season opener. Fans can follow the Storm on Facebook at Lake Elsinore Storm or on Twitter at @Storm_Baseball for announcements throughout the year. For information on the 20th Anniversary festivities, giveaways and promotions visit stormbaseball.com or call the Storm front office at 951-245-4487.

"Finding Kind" Meeting Tues, April 15
On February 4, the City of Temecula in collaboration with Hillcrest Academy hosted a film showing of Finding Kind at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater. Over 250 parents and youth viewed this powerful, heart-wrenching and true story documentary about girl-on-girl bullying, which touched all in attendance. . Feedback from the February 4th event has resulted in a call for action to initiate campaigns and/or club efforts to educate youth on the effects of bullying and to reduce bullying behavior. On April 15, from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm, a follow-up discussion forum will be hosted at Hillcrest Academy, 29275 Santiago Rd, Temecula. Kids First - Take Action
April is "National Child Abuse Prevention Month"
Child Abuse is prevalent in our valley and rising nationally at an alarming rate. In the Month of April we urge everyone in our community to take action for children everywhere! The Blue Ribbon is the international sign for child abuse prevention and serves as a
constant reminder that all of us have a responsibility to help keep helpless children safe!
Three simple effective ways to participate in the Kids First Campaign:
(1) Display a small no-maintenance "Hope Box" in your place of business throughout the month of April for at will donations of any amount to support your local community children's home or Round-Up at the register and donate the additional change!
(2) Become a Blue Ribbon Partner - offer your customers a blue ribbon special that suits your type of business during the month of April - a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Blue Ribbon Special would be donated to Rancho Damacitas Children's Homes
(3) Make announcements within your social media groups, place Blue Ribbons on your homes, tie them to your trees and car antennas, wear them and display them at your work place and places of business. (we can provide blue ribbon pins)
Celebrating over 30 years in service, Rancho Damacitas is a residential treatment center for at risk youth from our own communities. Located in the Temecula Valley, Rancho Damacitas Children's Homes has been standing in the gap for children victimized by child abuse and neglect. Rancho Damacitas is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that facilitates physical and emotional healing, recovery, and a new beginning to children and youth ranging in age from six to eighteen. For more information or to obtain your HOPE box please contact Terri Rausin at (951) 302-2317 ext.236. www.4kidsfirst.org.

TVSA Hawks Soccer Partners with German Soccer Club
The Hawks have formed an official partnership with German Club FC Astoria Walldorf. We have already tested the waters by hosting the FC Astoria BU17 team last spring (and they will be retuning this April!). Hawks player Brandon Lopez also went to Germany and trained with the club, he even got to play in a game at the Ajax fields playing the Ajax youth team (which included 5 Dutch National team players). This partnership will include players from both the boys and girls side. Our players will be offered chances to expand their soccer opportunities and cultural experiences and the German players an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of American college coaches while playing with Hawks teams. FC Astoria coach Sven Stradtrecher commented, "The possibility for German players to travel to Southern California and maybe gain access to a scholarship at college will be much easier with this partnership. The same goes for a Hawks player to travel to Germany and play soccer there in one of the most immersed soccer cultures in the world will now be possible. We are looking forward very much to the future of our partnership." Hawks BU17 player Lopez summed it up by saying, "I feel truly blessed to have had this opportunity. I am so grateful to my host families, Coach Sven and Coach Sachsa, the entire FC Astoria team and families for making this experience memorable. I am also thankful to be a member of the Hawks, because without my club I would have never had the opportunity to go to Germany." These are real attainable opportunities for our players and coaches. The Astoria U19 team plays in the highest league in Germany available to youth teams, the Bundesliga. They also have a women's team and teams as young as U7. Hawks DOC David Halliday looks forward to individual players, teams and coaches taking advantage of the opportunity to stretch themselves on the soccer field and understanding that there is so much more to the soccer world culture then what they experience in Southern California.
