A Message from the City Manager

Greetings -

Congratulations to our law enforcement team. For 2024, the City of Temecula is rated the 15th safest City in the United States. This annual analysis looks at the most recent crime statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to estimate the cost of crime in 302 cities with populations greater than 100,000 across the United States. The data in the safest cities report also shows, on average, violent crimes cost communities ten times more than property crimes.

It is evident the City Council continues to prioritize public safety through budgetary and resource investments, and sound leadership decisions. A 10-year reflection of our population increased at 4%, meanwhile public safety staffing increased at 28% and 18% for Police and Fire, respectively. Over this time, we've also added the METRO team to Old Town and expanded/renovated the Sheriff Station at the Civic Center. To ensure the safe, business and family friendly environment envisioned by the City Council, it is nearly impossible to drive through Temecula, and especially Old Town on any weekend night, without seeing our deputies on patrol.

From a local regulatory perspective, next on the agenda, the City Council will consider adopting an anti-theft Ordinance for catalytic converters. Barring any provision of state law, the new City Ordinance will establish it to be unlawful for any person(s) to possess any catalytic converter which is not attached to a vehicle unless the person has verifiable, valid proof of ownership of the catalytic converter.

Enjoy your weekend in one of the Nation's safest cities.

-Aaron Adams, City Manager
