March with Temple Emanu-El and the URJ at the SF Pride Parade
Sunday, June 25 at 9:00 AM
Temple Emanu-El is joining the URJ San Francisco Bay Area Community to march together in the San Francisco Pride Parade, Sunday, June 25, 2017. Reform Jews from across the Bay Area will march together as one united group to show our solidarity with the Pride movement, proclaim our support of civil and human rights, and demonstrate our own strength in numbers.  This is an excellent opportunity for us to present ourselves as allies to the community!

Earlier that weekend, Temple Emanu-El will be hosting Pride Shabbat on Friday, June 23 at 6:30 PM.  Join us before and after the service to make signs for our group marching.

Sign up to march with Temple Emanu-El!  E-mail admin@templesanjose.org and let us know you would like to join by June 16.

Food for your body.  Food for your soul.  Need a better way to spend your lunch hour?  Join Rabbi Magat for an informal study and discussion session of our current Torah portion, as we are navigating the Torah in order.  Together we will navigate through traditional interpretations and modern applications of our Torah.  Bring your lunch and be ready to get a new perspective on Torah. Open to members and non-members and no previous Torah study is required.

Equipped to Learn Backpack Drive
June 21 - July 26
Temple Emanuel is once again partnering with Jewish Family Services to collect backpacks and school supplies for preschool through adult learners. With your help, these students will be off a great start to a successful 2017-18 school year!

There are several ways you and your family can help someone be equipped to learn and succeed. Look for the backpack boards and bins in the synagogue lobby. You can turn in your donation at the synagogue backpack bin or at JFS SV at the Levy Family Campus. You can donate a full backpack for a needy student based from a requested supply list, you can purchase Target gift cards, or buy from JFS' online registry. Check JFS' web site http://www.jfssv.org/equipped-to-learn-backpack-drive.html for details. Any questions or if you would like to volunteer with your children (over 10 years old please), contact loric@jfssv.org.
