Tickets for CARMEN Going Fast
May 25, May 27, June 2 and June 3 at 221 Lambert Avenue Palo Alto, CA 94306
Our own Philip Schwarz is part of the chorus for the Opera Carmen.  Carmen by Georges Bizet - Carmen, a Gypsy woman working in a cigar factory, is arrested for fighting with a co-worker. Don Jose, the army officer who arrests her, soon falls under her spell and winds up deserting the army in order to follow her. But Carmen is a free soul. She tires of him and leaves him, despite his pleas and threats. Eventually, she pays for that freedom with her life. Often described as the best French opera ever written, we present Carmen in its original setting.
Showings of the Movie "1945"
Various Dates and Locations
On a summer day in 1945, an Orthodox man and his grown son return to a village in Hungary while the villagers prepare for the wedding of the town clerk's son. The townspeople - suspicious, remorseful, fearful, and cunning - expect the worst and behave accordingly. The town clerk fears the men may be heirs of the village's deported Jews and expects them to demand their illegally acquired property back.  For showtimes and locations, click here.
