Tot Shabbat with Dinner
Friday, January 15 at 6:00 PM
These brief services geared for preschool aged children are led by Rabbi Dana Magat and Cantor Meeka Simerly and include blessings, songs, stories, and prayers in the sanctuary. Thanks to the generosity of our Sisterhood group,   a delicious, complimentary dinner is served after the service.
Mitzvah Day 2016
Sunday, January 17 at 10:00 AM
Everyone can take part in Mitzvah Day!  It is a big day with lots of fun family activities!  On Mitzvah Day, you can donate at the collection centers, volunteer for hands-on activities, and learn at the information booths.  A delicious lunch provided by Sisterhood will be available for all who participate!  
Religious School students must participate with their families.  There will be a parking exemption on Sunday, January 17 so you may park anywhere despite what the sign reads.

Rabbi Magat Speaking at City Hall
Monday, January 18 at 5:30 PM at 200 E Santa Clara St, San Jose
Come joins us at San Jose City Hall Plaza to light candles and pray for an end to gun violence on Mon, Jan 18th (Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday) from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Rabbi Dana Magat and Rev. Dr. Ken Henry will be reading off a list of names and places where people died and communities were traumatized in 2015. 
Israeli Dancing

Celebrate Shabbat with Craig Taubman

We are so excited for Craig Taubman to return to Temple Emanu-El!  Enjoy a 6:30 PM wine and cheese reception followed by a 7:30 PM Shabbat service with Craig Taubman!  This service has no charge and is open to all.  There will be a special meet & greet with Craig Taubman during the oneg and CDs will be available for purchase.  Bring your friends for a fun night out!
Mincha, Tea and Torah

Join Cantor Simerly for an egalitarian Torah study over tea and noshes following an afternoon Mincha service. This study session is open and welcoming to all who wish to join.  Begins at 1:00 PM.

Preschool Open House
Tuesday, February 2 at 5:00 PM
This is a fun night for families interested in our program to come check us out.  Our program accepts children ages 2-6.

Mah Jongg Cards 2016
Deadline of January 30, 2015
Calling all Mah Jongg Players!  It is that time again... Time to reorder cards to the 2016 year.  Get the call out to all your Mah Jongg players and games.  Gather their information and money and remit to Harriet Saltzman, via the Sisterhood mailbox in the Temple Administrative Office.

This is a Sisterhood fundraiser and the more individual card ordered, the more money they get.  Checks may be made out to Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood.

$8.00 for standard (small) card and $9.00 for the large print card.

Ending Human Trafficking: Cultural Approaches

Leading up to the Super Bowl, and in creating on-going initiatives, Santa Clara County is making huge strides in combating human trafficking. Come hear this group of powerful advocates, who will share cultural approaches to solving human trafficking, and how the justice and legislative branches are working hand in hand with the community to make a real difference.
Speakers include Dr. Merav Shmueli from the Israeli Ministry of Justice, Congressman Mike Honda and DA Jeff Rosen. Held at the Levy Family Campus, APJCC Auditorium.
