Annual Campaign
Our Annual Campaign launched on Erev Rosh Hashanah and continues through December 31. This is an integral part of the Temple operating budget. It is thanks to generous donors like you, that we are able continue to provide enriching experiences like Neighborhood Havdalah, Rock Shabbat, Shabarbecue and much more. Every contribution makes an impact and we invite you to get involved in a way that is meaningful to you and your family.

Adult Education
Learning Hebrew, about our holidays, or our heritage isn't just for the kids, it's for adult too! We've got a great variety of classes available for adults wanting to learn more about their Jewish faith and upbringing. Both members and on-members are welcome to attend! Erev Simchat Torah
October 20, 5:00pm

Come join us as we have reached the end of reading the Torah for for this year! Time to start back at the beginning. You don't want to miss this unique experience.

We will also be having Consecration services for the new students to our Religious school.

Dinner starts at 5pm with the service to follow. Everyone is welcome to attend, both members and non-members!

Simchat Torah & Yizkor Services
October 21 - 9am

The final culmination of our High Holy Days season for this year is the Simcaht Torah & Yizkor Service. Join us in the chapel.

Lunch & Learn Torah Study
October 23, 12:00pm

Food for your body. Food for your soul. Need a better way to spend your lunch hour? Join Rabbi Magat for an informal study and discussion session of a selected Torah portion. Together we will navigate through traditional interpretations and modern applications of our historic teachings. Bring your lunch and be ready to get a new perspective on Torah. Open to members and non-members and no previous Torah study is required.

Latkes & Laughs
December 8 - 5:30pm


There's nothing better than an evening of comedy and jokes, while enjoying fresh potato pancakes! We invite you and your friends to join us for another year of Latkes and Laughs. Both members and non-members are welcome to attend this hilarious evening!

Community Events
Become a JFS Friendly Visitor
As we put our best foot forward during this new Jewish year of 5780, consider taking action to enrich your life and the life of others. JFS is in need of empathetic and committed volunteers to become Friendly Visitors.

A JFS Friendly Visitor is matched up with an isolated senior for a weekly or every other week visit and they form lasting friendships with the senior. Our Friendly Visitors say that they get so much more than they give.

Jewish Medical Ethics: A 21st Century Discussion

PACT Leadership Luncheon
November 7

Come join your fellow Temple Emanu-El congregants at the annual PACT luncheon. Pact is a a multi-faith, grassroots organization deigns to work together to solve contemporary and social problems.Temple Emanu-El is proud to be a member of PACT.

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness - Team Tikvah
November 2

This November, Ari, Sherry and Nat will once again take part in the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Network’s Purple Stride walk to raise money for pancreatic cancer research and advocacy.  They are sponsoring a team - Team Tikvah - for the walk. They would like to extend an invitation to the Congregation to participate in the event. The walk will be on Saturday, November 2. It is estimated that this cancer causes the second-largest number of deaths in the US yearly. It also dis proportionally affects certain ethnic groups, for example Ashkenazi Jews and African Americans.  

24/6: The Power of Unpluggng One Day a Week
November 19 - 7:00 pm

Tiffany Shlain, author of a book about her commitment to unplugging her phone on Shabbat, will be speaking about how taking breaks from the phone brought her family closer. Join us at the Addison-Penzak JCC for this author meet, greet and book signing.
