Join Cantor Amanda Edmondson and Rabbi Dana Magat this Sunday, January 13th at 1:00 PM for a day of learning!

Jewbilee is an annual celebration of Jewish learning for adults. The afternoon is divided into sessions, with many classes, workshops and performances happening simultaneously during each session. You choose what you want to do. For one of the classes, Rabbi Dana Magat and Cantor Amanda Edmondson will be teaching a joint session called "The Future of the Synagogue."

Wine and Cheese Reception
Friday, January 18th at 6:30 PM
As a thank you to our Annual Campaign donors, we will be holding a lovely wine and cheese reception for our Kabbalat Shabbat service.  Open to all! Followed by our Rock Shabbat Service. Kindly RSVP to  admin@templesanjose.org so we can make sure there is enough cheese for you.
Challah Orders
You may now place orders for challahs and pick them up here at Temple. For only $5.50 per 1 lb challah, you have your pick between plain, poppy, sesame, raisin, and wheat.
You must place your order on or before Wednesdays by 5 PM in order to receive the challah that same week. Orders received after 5 PM on Wednesday will not be processed until the following week. Live Streaming
We are officially live streaming!
A few weeks ago, we set up our sanctuary to have live streaming. Now you can join us for a Shabbat service from the comfort of your own home if you are unable to join us in person!
While you can't get food at oneg through the live stream (it's too bad, they really need to invent that), you can keep up with Temple happenings and be part of our beautiful Shabbat services. It is now easily accessible through our website at
Tikkun Olam: This Is Home

The first Tikkun Olam discussion of 2019 will begin with the documentary, This Is Home, and follow with a discussion. This Is Home focuses on the lives of Syrian refugees who are resettled in the United States. Attendance is free, but please register here so we can save you a spot. Baby Shabbat

Temple Emanu-El presents a Shabbat experience geared towards families with children ages 1-30 months. Little ones will enjoy a service full of Shabbat songs, Torah talk, and parachute play! Kiddush, motzi, and a bagel oneg. Everyone is welcome!
Tot Shabbat with Free Dinner
Friday, January 18th at 6:00 PM
Families with young children will enjoy upbeat songs, a short story, and a talk with the Rabbi on the bimah. All are welcome to these brief services on the third Friday of each month. Stay after services and enjoy a delicious dinner provided by Sisterhood, of course at no charge!
Rock Shabbat Service
Friday, January 18th at 7:30 PM
An innovative and joyous worship experience with musicians and singers joining Cantor Amanda Edmondson and Rabbi Dana Magat. Congregational singing is definitely encouraged, as is dancing in the aisles. All members and non-members are invited to a service like you’ve never been to before.
Mah Jongg Cards 2019

Believe it or not - it's that time again! Calling all Mah Jongg players! Time to reorder cards for the year 2019.
Remember that this is a Sisterhood fundraiser and the more individual cards ordered, the more money is rebated to us. Please make out all checks to TEMPLE EMANU-EL SISTERHOOD.

Neighborhood Havdalah

Registration Open!
Join your neighbors to mark the end of Shabbat and usher in the new week. Hosts provide the home, guests will provide an appetizer or dessert, and Temple Emanu-El will provide the wine and ritual. This is a wonderful way to connect with fellow congregants who live in your neighborhood! Please note that the exact location will be provided after we receive your RSVP. Tu B'Shvat Plant Nite for Ages 21-35
Stilettos Wine Bar in Saratoga
Thursday, January 17th
Celebrate the New Year of the Trees with other Jewish young adults. A Plant Nite facilitator will guide participants in creating their own terrariums in honor of Tu B'Shvat. This event takes place at  Stilettos Wine Bar . Food and wine will be available for purchase. First round of appetizers is included in the event price. Get tickets by clicking here

A Cantor's Concert
Congregation Shir Hadash in Los Gatos

Shir Hadash invites everyone to a special havdalah program with Cantor Felder-Levy and six of her esteemed colleagues to honor and celebrate the Jewish and secular works of Leonard Bernstein on the centennial of his birth.
