Temple Emanu-El Happenings
Annual Campaign
Our Annual Campaign launched on Erev Rosh Hashanah and continues through December 31. This is an integral part of the Temple operating budget. It is thanks to generous donors like you, that we are able continue to provide enriching experiences like Neighborhood Havdalah, Rock Shabbat, Shabarbecue and much more. Help us to continue to provide a comforting and save space for worship. Every contribution makes an impact and we invite you to get involved in a way that is meaningful to you and your family. JFS: Embrace a Family
November 15 - December 15

Each year JFS makes Hanukkah brighter for those in need. You can help us make this year special. Look for our dreidel boards in the temple lobby from November 15th through December 15th. Here's how the program works: pull a dreidel tag, purchase the specific gift on the tag, return the gift and tag to the JFS SV office. You'll receive a letter of thanks from JFS. We'll wrap your gift and see it goes to the person who asked for it.

In addition to specific gifts, JFS is also asking for:
  • Large new/unused gift bags
  • Gas cards
  • Gift cards to Target, Walmart, Trader Joes and Safeway to serve our clients throughout the year.

Add'l info & volunteers, please email Lori Cinnamon or call 408-357-7456
Adult Education - Finding God
November 20 - 7:00 pm

Judaism is not a static museum piece. It evolves and responds to the new challenges that changing societal pressures, world views and technology present it. Some elements tend to remain the same, others not. Are you most comfortable with a "Limited Theology?" Do you prefer a theology that has God determining the life of every sparrow and every leaf that will fall from a tree? From Biblical, to Ancient Rabbinic, to Modern, and Post Holocaust, come and explore the ways that Jews have tried to cope with a changing and abiding relationship with God.

Interfaith Thanksgiving
November 24 - 6:30pm

We will be joining our friends for Interfaith Thanksgiving at the United Methodist Chuch in Willow Glen this year. Join Rabbi Magat, Cantor Edmondson, clergy and other religious leaders for this unique experience. Service will be starting at 6:30pm with reception afterwards. Questions? Become a JFS Friendly Visitor
As we put our best foot forward during this new Jewish year of 5780, consider taking action to enrich your life and the life of others. JFS is in need of empathetic and committed volunteers to become Friendly Visitors.

A JFS Friendly Visitor is matched up with an isolated senior for a weekly or every other week visit and they form lasting friendships with the senior. Our Friendly Visitors say that they get so much more than they give.
