The 2016 Temple Emanu-El Directory is here!  Be sure to pick yours up during Religious School on May 1, or at the Oneg following services on April 29.  You may also pick up your Temple Directory from the Temple Administrative Office during regular business hours.  One Directory per family.  Now is the perfect opportunity to add your photo to your Temple account online.  Our online roster allows you to see people's photos!

Brotherhood is once again providing the congregation with Yom HaShoah/Holocaust Memorial candles. Please pick up your candle during the Oneg on Friday, April 29.  Religious School families will receive their candles on May 1.

Saturday, April 30 at 10:00 AM at Alum Rock Park
Join Ritual Committee for an outdoor, music-filled service at the Ramada Picnic Area of Alum Rock Park in San Jose. Enjoy a 10:30 AM service followed by hiking on the trails, playing on the playground, and time with Temple Emanu-El family and friends.  Bring a dish to share for a potluck lunch.  Parking is $6.  This service is open to all!

Death and Dying Course
Sunday April 3, April 24, and May 1 at 11:30 AM
This three-course series that began April 3 will continue to investigate traditional and Reform Jewish practices, customs, and concepts surrounding death.  We will also discuss some of the important issues that surround bereavement and the grieving process.  Finally, we will investigate some modern theories concerning the stages of grief.  We will also spend time discussing life after death and how death relates to our beliefs. This three-course Adult Education opportunity is taught by Rabbi Dana Magat and is free and open to members and non-members.  RSVP to [email protected].

Put on your dancin' shoes and join our free dancing class taught by our very own Loui Tucker. This class takes place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. No dance experience necessary and we welcome everyone from the community to join.

Everyone is welcome to join our congregational family for a Shabbatluck Dinner. These potluck dinners take place throughout the religious school year on the first Friday of each month before the Erev Shabbat Family Service.

On May 6, our family service will led by our 4th Grade Students and will feature the participation of our Aleph Hebrew Students.
 
Meet and schmooze with these students, their families, and our congregation during a friendly potluck dinner and stay for a delightful Shabbat service.

Saturday, May 14 at 9:00 AM
Babies, and bagels, and blessings, oh my!  Join us on the second Saturday of every month for a Shabbat experience geared towards families with children ages 0-30 months.  Little ones will enjoy a service full of Shabbat songs, Torah studies, and parachute play!  Kiddush, motzi, and a bagel oneg sponsored by Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood will follow this fun-filled program.  This is a great opportunity for parents of young children to meet and form groups with their peers!

Silicon Valley Yom HaShoah Memorial Service
Wednesday, May 4 at 7:00 PM
Jewish students from around Silicon Valley, in their studies of the Holocaust, will design and conduct a moving memorial service on behalf of the community.  Our own Teen Jewish Studies (TJS) students, along with Rabbi Magat and Phil Hankin, will be participating in this event.  Congregation Sinai, 1532 Willowbrae Ave., San Jose.
