A Message from the

President of our Board of Trustees

Dear Temple Emanuel Community,

I hope you are all having a happy and healthy start to 2022!

I want to share with you some updates we have to our COVID-19 protocols based on the ever-changing situation. After many weeks of holiday travel and gatherings, and the reopening of public schools, we continue to monitor the full impact of COVID-19 on the community. The decisions I am sharing today were made in conjunction with our Jewish values, including pikuach nefesh, taking steps to preserve life and health, along with the current scientific data that shows the omicron variant to be spread easily with high transmission rates.

We will remain in person for Friday Shabbat services, B'nai Mitzvah and other programming events and look forward to praying and celebrating in person and online.

Our Research Committee is monitoring the situation very closely and will reconvene on January 26th to assess the situation at that time, until that date, the following recommendations will be implemented at Temple Emanuel:

We are pausing food outside for the time being.

We continue to require masks at all times and strongly recommend every one wear a surgical mask or kn95/n95 while they are in the building. We will have surgical masks available.

Out of an abundance of caution and due to the pervasive spread of the Omicron variant- including among children- some of whom are ineligible for vaccination, we are postponing the start of the coming semester of Religious School until a planned return on Wednesday, January 19th.  Religious School families have received additional details.

I want to thank the Research Committee who has regularly met to evaluate and navigate the best way to protect our congregation since March 2020. Their participation has been invaluable. I also want to express my appreciation to our community; I can’t thank you enough for your support and understanding over the past 22 months as we navigated uncertainty. We are looking forward to continuing to gather safely and will update you with any new information after January 26th.

As always, please reach out with any questions.
