Dear Participants, Volunteers, Instructors, and Partners,
We know this is a stressful time and appreciate your patience and diligence as all of us navigate through the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. So much of what we do at the Senior Center is about controlling stress and cultivating good social, physical and mental wellness. Your overall health is a priority to us.
That’s why it saddens us to make the following announcement: Due to the vulnerability of the age group who participate in Senior Center activities, and in-line with announcements made by Mayor Dailey, the City Team, and the nation to cancel large public events (such as our Capital City Senior Games Celebration of Athletes) for the next 30 days, –
all TSC and senior programs, activities, groups, classes, meetings, organizations, field trips, etc., scheduled at the Senior Center, Lincoln Neighborhood Center, Smith Williams Center, other Parks & Recreation centers and any of our satellite sites – are cancelled effective Friday, March 13 through Friday, April 10.
There are a limited number of exceptions. Tax Aide services and individual counseling will still be offered. Only individuals with Tax Aide or counseling appointments will be allowed in the building. At this time, staff will still report to work. Everyone must enter and check in through the main entrance on 7th Avenue.
We encourage you to follow healthy practices and make good decisions about your health and on behalf of your loved ones – for the latest information and updates on COVID-19 by the City of Tallahassee,
Lastly, we know you depend on us for social connection and access to other resources and social supports. That said, during this temporary closure, should you need to chat, have questions or are seeking resources – we encourage you to call us at 850-891-4000, M-F, between 8 am – 5 pm, or email us
(click here for a list of staff contacts).
We hope that things can return to normal after these 30 days.
Stay well and take care,
The Tallahassee Senior Center & Foundation Team
