Temporary Halt in Rental Evictions in Barnstable County
The CDC has instituted a new eviction moratorium that replaces the one recently expired. This moratorium is targeted to counties that have HIGH LEVELS of COVID-19, which currently includes Barnstable County. Cape Cod Healthcare Seeks Community Benefits Grant Applicants
Cape Cod Healthcare (CCHC) is pleased to release its 2022 Annual Strategic Grant Request for Proposals (RFP). The 2022 RFP is part of an annual competitive grant process focused on addressing the unmet health needs of the residents of Barnstable County. The CCHC Community Benefits grants program is open to all non-profit community organizations operating in Barnstable County which have programs aligned with CCHC Community Benefits priorities.

We Can Prevent Childhood Adversity
Adverse childhood experiences, or ACEs, are potentially traumatic events in childhood (0-17 years), such as neglect and experiencing or witnessing violence.
ACEs include aspects of a child’s environment that can undermine their sense of safety, stability, and bonding, such as living in a household with substance misuse or mental health problems.
ACEs can negatively impact physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral development. ACEs can also have lasting effects on health, well-being, and prosperity well into adulthood.

The Family Pantry of Cape Cod's Donation Center is Moving |
The Family Pantry of Cape Cod's donation center is moving back to the main Pantry at 133 Queen Anne Road in Harwich. The current donation center behind the Second Glance Thrift Shop will close on Friday September 3rd. Clothing donations and houseware donations will resume on Tuesday, September 7th at the Pantry's main warehouse on Queen Anne Road. Donation hours will be Tues, Wed and Thurs 7:00 -2:00 PM and on Fri and Sat from 7:00-Noon. For more information please call the Pantry at 508-432-6519 |

CORD's Free Career Readiness Workshops in August, 2021 |
Do you have a teenager with disabilities? CORD is offering free career readiness workshops to youths with disabilities between the ages of 14-21 during the month of August. CORD’s career readiness workshops provide young adults with the essential skills needed to be successful in today’s competitive workforce. Call CORD to learn about exploring career options, choosing a path after high school, dressing for success in the workplace and what to expect while working. ROAR (Ride for Opioid Addiction Recovery) is holding it's 4th annual motorcycle ride/rally Sunday September 12, 2021, from the Falmouth High School riding to the Barnstable High School. Anyone can come for the price of a $20 wristband. Food, raffles and lots of hope. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Falmouth High School. The ride commences at 11 a.m. |

The Ride for Homes, which raises critical funds to help Habitat Cape Cod families achieve the dream of homeownership.
Our Ride takes place each year in the fall, with over 100 riders riding one of two routes, 12 miles or 20. The event raises close to $80,000 annually which helps us continue our important work.

We are coming up on that time of year again, Medicare Open Enrollment. Each year we get busier and busier with folks wishing to have their insurance plans reviewed, so it is best to get beneficiaries thinking about it soon. Unfortunately, we cannot predict what will happen with the COVID situation and how that will affect counseling, but we will be ready to shift from in person appointments, to telephone appointments if need be. Currently we have a mix of both. As you are aware, the situation is fluid and I will keep you all updated if and when additional transitions are made.

COVID 19 Survival Kit Series - Sponsored by NAMI Cape Cod & The Islands
In early 2020, when COVID 19 hit hard, NAMI Cape Cod & the Islands developed an 8-part Survival Tool Kit Series, based on the research of Bruce Perry, renowned child psychiatrist and neuroscientist. The kit was developed as a guide to review, over the fall and winter months, some essential tools to help us deal with stress of the COVID 19 pandemic. These tools apply to those of all ages--children, adolescents, young adults, adults and elders. Each month highlights a new topic and provides tools to help manage this crisis and identify resources such as web videos, articles, discussions and more we have found helpful.
