Tempting Tidbits - May 31, 2019
A Note From Karen

Those of us who knit and crochet know the many benefits we receive from the crafts we love. However, there is much more to this story.

After reading the article, In Mindful Knitting, It's the Journey, Not the Scarf , in the Wall Street Journal, I began digging deeper and discovered quite a few references to studies conducted to evaluate the effects of crafting activities.

A very brief synopsis of this research indicates that those of us who practice crafts are likely to be more successful in smoking cessation, weight loss, managing stress, eating disorders and other serious health issues. Most interesting is that if these activities occur in social settings, they may delay the onset of memory loss.

Listed below, you will find several links to the research:

Knit for the Love

Do you sometimes think, "I don't need another hat, scarf or cowl, but I love to knit!" What about “knitting for the love” of it? Knit for the love of people going through chemo, women who have had mastectomies, premature babies or those who are homeless. Knit for anyone in need, just for the love of knitting.

Knitting Temptations is encouraging knitters to come together and knit for others on the fourth Saturday of each month from 1-3pm. We will focus on a different charity/project each month. We will deliver the finished projects.

Knit for the Love will not be held June 29. Please join us July 27 to learn tips and tricks for making Knitted Knockers. Patterns will be supplied.
Tuesdays - 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Fridays - 10am-Noon

Knitting Temptations offers two opportunities for friends to gather and create. We welcome all fiber artists, including knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, felters and others of all skill levels. Bring your project and join your creative friends for support and advice.

A member of the staff will be available to answer questions and offer limited guidance. Problems requiring more assistance may be scheduled for a later time.
