Tempting Tidbits - July 26, 2019
A Note From Karen

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 27, from 1-3pm our Knit for the Love group will focus on creating “Knitted Knockers.” We will welcome Beth Good and several of her companions. Beth and her friends are breast cancer survivors. Not only will these women guide tomorrow’s group in knitting the “Knockers”, but they will share some of the details of their journeys. Knitting Temptations is honored by their generosity and look forward to seeing many knitters meet them. Please join us for this unique opportunity!

In addition, please plan to join the “I-75 Crawlers”, as they veer off the highway to the east and visit the wonderful shops in central Ohio. Each shop has special gifts, prizes and events to make stopping worth your time. In addition, Knitting Temptations has special pricing of a wide variety of yarns, including Amano, Malabrigo, MadelineTosh, Manos and as promised, a trunk show! This time, Lorna’s Laces has sent a lovely selection of models and a variety of their most popular yarn bases in stunning colors!

Be sure to visit Knitting Temptations!

With five unique yarn shops - Yarn It & Haberdashery, The Yarn Shop, Sew to Speak, 614 Knit Studio, and Knitting Temptations - all within 20 minutes of each other, a detour off I-75 is well worth the journey.

Can't wait to hit the road!
Knit for the Love

Please join us July 27 to learn tips and tricks for making Knitted Knockers. We will hear more about this charitable knitting foundation from women who have benefited from having Knitted Knockers.

Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast. Traditional breast prosthetics are usually expensive, heavy, sweaty and uncomfortable. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers on the other hand are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast.

Patterns will be supplied.

Supplies
  • Suggested yarn is Cascade Ultra Pima
  • Size US 4 double point needles
  • Stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle

If you are unable to join us July 27, you can find the pattern here.

Do you sometimes think, "I don't need another hat, scarf or cowl, but I love to knit!" What about “knitting for the love” of it? Knit for the love of people going through chemo, women who have had mastectomies, premature babies or those who are homeless. Knit for anyone in need, just for the love of knitting.

Knitting Temptations is encouraging knitters to come together and knit for others on the fourth Saturday of each month from 1-3pm. We will focus on a different charity/project each month. We will deliver the finished projects.
Papillon -- Summer Knit Along

It is not too late to join in the fun! It seems we are adding new Papillon knitters every week! We're having so much fun knitting this shawl - it's an addictive pattern! A great group of knitters meets on Tuesday afternoons from 2-4pm and/or Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm. Come whenever your schedule allows. We have room for more!

Seeing how all the colors unfold is half the fun!  The project uses two skeins of multicolored Uneek Fingering and one skein of a contrasting color of Uneek Monokrom or Uneek Harvest. New shipments of the yarn arrive regularly - the hardest part of the project will be choosing which beautiful colors to use!
CRAZY

The CRAZY wall is full! Come get yours before it is gone! Some of the suggested patterns are  Nightshift,   Shiftalong , The Shift  and  Montana Mountain  by Andrea Mowry.

The whole idea of Crazy is that it is unpredictable, so be prepared to knit something random and fun!
What's Off Our Needles

Summer Fling , knit by Anna, designed by Espace Tricot.

The perfect little summer bag for strolling around town, light shopping, or meeting friends! The bottom is knit flat and then stitches are picked up for knitting the main body in the round. Handles are then knit flat one at a time and are joined using Kitchener stitch.

Anna adapted the pattern by using a stitch from Barbara Walker's A Treasury of Knitting Patterns . The yarn she used is Uneek Cotton, color #1083 and Cascade Ultra Pima, color #3793.
Papillon /Butterfly , Knit by Ann, designed by Marin Melchior.

Ann loved this knit so much that she just began her second butterfly! What a beautiful place to wear her completed shawl! Ann used is Urth Uneek Fingering, color #3017, and Urth Monokrom #3052.
Painted Stones Cow l, knit by Anna, designed by Susan Wong-Tsang.

When you have a beautiful yarn like Amano Puyu, show it off with a super easy, cozy neck warmer that will stay put even on the windiest of days. Even better, it will knit up quickly with a minimum of fuss!
Magical Thinking KAL

Please join us! Jumping in on any of the Saturdays is perfectly fine! This KAL is offered at no cost.

Magical Thinking  is a project that goes quickly, is good for beginners, and perfect for Netflix knitting. Read about this pullover shawl on the pattern page for more details on color selection and sizing. Basically, any three colors that you love together will work wonderfully and it's a great accessory for spring and summer. The sample was done in Baah La Jolla. Grab three skeins of fingering weight yarn and join in!
