Tempting Tidbits - February 9, 2019
A Note From Karen

It's party time! We have several upcoming events in which we are going to celebrate our knitting successes. It would be great if you joined us! On February 11, we will celebrate the end of our 2018 Passport to the Holidays program. March 4, we will celebrate, well, me! We have fun plans to share with you that day. April 18, we will have a Kagan's Quilt reunion. It will be fun to see everyone's quilt, finished or not.

Call (614.734.0618) or email ( knit2temptations@gmail.com ) if you plan to attend.

Let's get the parties started!

Long-time knitter and customer, Becky Crieighton, has joined the Knitting Temptations staff. She will be working in the store as well as doing some teaching. Becky lives in Urbana and is a retired math teacher. Becky is married to Dick (who around the shop is affectionately known as "Becky's husband"). They have two married sons and five grandchildren. Becky has been knitting for more than five years. She loves learning!
Knitting for the Love

Do you sometimes think, "I don't need another hat, scarf or cowl, but I love to knit!" What about “knitting for the love” of it? Knit for the love of people going through chemo, women who have had mastectomies, premature babies or those who are homeless. Knit for anyone in need, “just for the love of knitting.”

Knitting Temptations is encouraging knitters to come together and knit for others on the third Saturday of each month from 1-3pm. We will focus on a different charity/project each month. We will deliver the finished projects.

Our focus on February 23 is knitting hats for premature babies. We will provide the pattern.

Supplies needed:
DK or a light-weight worsted yarn
Size US 6 (4mm) double point needles
Knit Kit

21 Colors Slouch
Knit in all 21 gorgeous introductory Woolstok colors, this kit from Blue Sky Fibers includes everything you need to make a striped slouch hat that's light enough to be worn in any season. As fun to knit as it is to wear. Woolstok is a 100% fine Highland wool yarn with great bounce and character.

21 Colors Mitts
The kit includes: 1 hank of yarn, 21 mini-hanks of yarn, and knitting pattern instructions.
Knit in 21 colors of soft and springy Woolstok, this fun and colorful mitt pattern is offered in both a short cuff and a long cuff version. You will want to wear them for both warmth and style!
Knit Kit

A Must for Every Knitter!

Life can be so much easier when preparations are made in advance. Our advice is to make up a knit kit to keep for your knitting projects. If you need help picking the best container or items, we can help with that! Items to include are:

Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle, Waste Yarn, Tape Measure, Scissors, Point Protectors, Pen, Paper, Post-it Notes, Row Counter, Needle Gauge, Fix-It Tool or crochet hook (appropriate to needle size).
What's Off Our Needles?

Valentine's Day is coming and Brenda knit this fun hat for her daughter and herself. Twinsie love! These two are adorable! Brenda used Vintage Fondant and Berries yarn. You can find the pattern here .

Jill knit this amazing Scoop Neck Pullover from Vogue Knitting, Fall 2015. She used a worsted weight tweed. She says, " Ten years of knitting and no looking back!" This sweater will look great with a pair of skinny jeans and keep Jill warm and cozy on a cold wintry day! The pattern can be found here .
Three more inspiring ladies finished their Match Play ponchos! They have been spotted wearing them around town. All used Sueño yarn. Pam used Slated, Ann V used Barn Door and Ann L. used Charcoal. What a great design by Michelle Hunter. We can't wait to see what Michelle's April KAL will bring! You can find the pattern for the poncho here .
Just a reminder - send photos to knit2temptations@gmail.com so we can post your finished projects! Include the name of the pattern and the name/color of yarn that you used. Thanks!

This class is a perfect follow up to our Beginning Sock class.

During the first class, students learn a special cast on for the toe and begin knitting a simple, classic design for the foot. In the second class, students learn a classic wrap & turn short-row heel technique.

Fingering Weight Yarn - 400-450 yards
Note on choosing yarn: Pattern and stitches show up best in SOLID, LIGHT colors.
