Tempting Tidbits - March 9, 2019
A Note From Karen

Dear Friends and Knitters,

Thank you for creating such a wonderful birthday for me! Your messages and cards made my day!

Yikes! Tonight we lose one hour of precious knitting time! My solution is to go to bed early and get up early to knit.

Although we open at 10am on March 16, it will be difficult to gain access to the shop until around 12:30pm. However, if you would like to watch the St. Patrick’s Day parade, it passes in front of the shop and you are more than welcome to watch from here.

May the luck of the Irish be with you,

Knit for the Love

Do you sometimes think, "I don't need another hat, scarf or cowl, but I love to knit!" What about “knitting for the love” of it? Knit for the love of people going through chemo, women who have had mastectomies, premature babies or those who are homeless. Knit for anyone in need, just for the love of knitting.

Knitting Temptations is encouraging knitters to come together and knit for others on the fourth Saturday of each month from 1-3pm. We will focus on a different charity/project each month. We will deliver the finished projects.

Our focus on March 23 is knitting or crocheting 7x9 blocks for Warm Up America . There are several different patterns that we will provide. Check out the patterns and the supply lists. We are still accepting preemie hats!
Give for the Love

It is good to help someone in need - to lend a hand to those who can't afford groceries or toiletries or clean clothes. During our March 4 celebration, we began collecting items to donate to the Open Shelter in downtown Columbus. Many have already generously donated items! We will collect items through March 31.

Items that are currently needed are: s oap, shampoo, shaving cream, deodorant, lotion, mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene items, disposable razors, hair brushes, combs, lip balm, diapers, wipes, facial and toilet tissue, socks and underwear.

Please join Knitting Temptations on April 27 to celebrate the second annual LYS Day! Make plans to spend time with us and with friends, celebrating creativity and community.

We are planning a day of fun that can only be experienced IN PERSON at our brick-and-mortar store! Stay tuned.

Suburban Wrap designed by Joji Locatelli , knit by Lynda.
Lynda looks great in the this shawl! She use d a combination of Baah La Jolla and Madeline Tosh Twist Light. The colors she chose really pop and compliment each other. V-shaped on one end and pointy on the other, this wrap will keep your interest from start to finish. There’s easy ribbing and garter, some lace, lots of stripes and texture. Pick three colors that go with your style and join the suburban fun.
Neverwhere designed by Melanie Berg, knit by Michelle.

Michelle came into the shop wearing this beautiful Melanie Berg-designed shawl. Mock cables, brioche stitches, and short-row shaping — you can really lose yourself in the textures of Neverwhere.
This elongated semi-circular shawl has a timeless silhouette, paired with unusual construction techniques that will keep you on your toes!
Pure Joy designed by Joji Locatelli, knit by Brenda.

The combination of garter stitch, short rows and eyelet rows can create the most varied results, but it always guarantees that you’ll have a good time knitting. Brenda loved working on this simple and fun project!

April 17
Instructor: Michelle Hunter

Learn to knit a whimsical shawl where opaque polka dots dance on a sheer background. The design is made possible through a magical combination of Navajo knitting and Intarsia. Unlike traditional Intarsia, only one skein is used at a time with no ends to weave or no interlocking. Previous experience with Navajo knitting or Intarsia is NOT required. It’s fast, fun and easy to learn.

Using fingering weight yarn, the pattern is available in two sizes. Both sizes are perfect for warming the shoulders on a chilly evening. The large size would make a stunning wrap for the modern bride!

Class includes the pattern, expert finishing tips, and lots of hands-on instruction for this unique technique. During the session, we will be swatching and beginning the shawl - be sure to select a fabulous yarn to showcase the design! We will also explore how to incorporate the skill into an endless array of design possibilities.
Size of finished shawl: Small (Large) – 60 (76)” wide, 33 (40)” deep at center point.
