#1 Black Panther Party 1970 Constitutional Convention Pinback
[Black Panther Party] Revolutionary People’s Constitutional Convention Washington D.C. Nov. 1970 Pinback. Black Panther Party, Producer. No place: 1970. Approximately 1 ¾ inches in diameter. Stickpin style back. The first Revolutionary People's Constitutional Convention was a conference organized by the Black Panther Party in Philadelphia, in September of 1970. Members of various organizations representing the Black Power movement, the Chicano movement, American Indian movement, women's and gay liberation attended, gathering in various workshops that created declarations to be incorporated into a new constitution. The success of this convention led to the planning of a second convention, in Washington, DC in November of the same year. Here the drafted constitution was to be ratified, and previous efforts advanced. However, disputes over venues, interference from police, and disorganization within the Black Panther Party caused this to be a scattered, scaled down affair, that did little to accomplish their planned goals. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and rubbing to the face. Heavy rusting to the reverse. $175.00

#3 Feminism, Women's Liberation
Forfreedom, Ann; One, Varda. Everywoman. Vol. 2, No. 1, Issue No. 12. January 1, 1971. Everywoman, Publisher. Venice, CA: 1971. Tabloid newspaper format. 20 pp. Photos and illustrations throughout. Single issue of this newspaper devoted to women’s liberation, although covering the movement from cultural and political viewpoints. Of note is a lengthy essay commenting on life in two communes as experienced by the woman writing the article. She shatters any illusions of hippie communes being more enlightened (at least those she lived in), highlighting rampant sexism and male hierarchy that replicated the rest of the world. (For those men with fragile egos, we suggest you skip this article). GOOD condition. General toning and a faint fold crease present. Minor soiling, wrinkling and creasing. $35.00

#4 Rock, Counterculture
Sinclair, John et al. Reay, Tony, editor. Various authors. CREEM No. 3 (Creem). Creem Magazine, Publisher. Detroit: 1969. Side folding tabloid newspaper format. 28 pp. Black and white photos and illustrations throughout. Third issue of this legendary rock music magazine, founded in 1969 as somewhat of an antidote to Rolling Stone. Creem adopted a humorous, less serious editorial tone that was unafraid to poke fun of musicians and the rock scene, while at the same time providing in depth coverage of groups and artists, often being well ahead of the mainstream media (like its coverage of punk rock). Because of its location in Detroit, it also covered a lot of acts from the Midwest. Rock journalist Lester Bangs wrote and served as editor of the magazine in the early 1970s. This issue features a piece by John Sinclair, writing as the Minister of Information of the White Panther Party, part one of the story of MC-5 on the West Coast. Plus a photo spread of Mick Jagger and others in their microphone eating poses. GOOD condition. Faint horizontal fold crease present. Moderate to heavy toning to the paper. A few small tears along the edges. Some ink smudging to the center front cover. Minor soiling. Faint dampstaining affecting the center right area of the paper. $200.00
