Join TATT to ReConnect:
Friday Morning Small Groups Begin April 16th
As we start returning to in-person gatherings, TATT will be hosting a series of Friday morning informal "ReConnect" events where a small group of participants will get together to reconnect with others from across the Upstate. Session will be limited to no more than 20 attendees and will be held in locations that have plenty of space for appropriate distancing.

Each session will be hosted by TATT Board members with topical discussion as well as time for mingling and getting to meet new people and renew relationships with others.

Below is the upcoming schedule. With the exception of the May 14th session, all will be held in the Community Room of the Park 37 Complex at 250 Executive Center Dr., Greenville, SC 29615. All sessions are free, but attendees must register in advance as spots are limited:

April 16 - 9:00-10:00 a.m. Hosts: Terence Roberts, Mayor, City of Anderson, and Angie Gossett, Marketing Director, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina;. Topic: Open Discussion

April 23 - 9:00-10:00 a.m. Hosts: Carol Burdette, CEO, United Way of Anderson County and Dean Hybl, Executive Director, Ten at the Top; Topic: Reconnecting with Upstate Non-Profits

April 30 - 9:00-10:00 a.m. Hosts: D.J. Doherty, Partner, Mavin Construction, David Feild, Market President, Colliers International, and Todd Horne, Vice President of Business Development, Clayton Construction; Topic:Status of Development and Construction in the Upstate

May 7 - 9:00-10:00 a.m. Hosts: Stinson Ferguson, Special Counsel, Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. and Joel Jones, COO, ReWa; Topic: Role of Water in the Economy & Quality of Life

Upstate Senior Issues Group Learns About AARP Resources For Staying in Your Home

The Upstate Senior Issues Group conducted its first virtual workshop of the year on March 31st with the focus on AARP resources available for helping seniors stay in their homes.

South Carolina AARP Volunteer, Lorraine Simmons, gave a very educational presentation on AARP’s HomeFit Guide. She provided an overview on a variety of simple actions that can be done to make a home easier for a senior to manuever and to maintain safety.

Upstate Professional Planners Get Update on Spartanburg's Northside Initiative

On March 24, the Upstate Professional Planners Workshop hosted the Northside Development Group for a presentation on the Northside Community. Michael Williamson and Tony Thomas gave an informative presentation on the history of Northside and all of the amazing work being done by NDG and the Northside Voyagers to transform the neighborhood in an intentional, community-based manner.


The next meeting of the Upstate Professional Planners will feature a presentation of the Upstate Comprehensive Plan Analysis results with intern, Kyle Dool. Kyle is a second-year graduate student in the city and regional planning program at Clemson University. A date and time will be announced in the coming weeks with the plan for this workshop to take place in mid-May.
Upstate Entrepreneur Ecosystem Learns About Avoiding Intellectual Property Pitfalls

On March 9, the Upstate Entrepreneur Ecosystem gathered on Zoom for Conversations to Avoid IP Calamities with Doug Lineberry from Burr Forman. Doug presented a guide to advise entrepreneurs on identifying, preserving, and avoiding intellectual property pitfalls at stage zero.
 
As always, the workshop served as a great connection point for the individuals and organizations in our region that support entrepreneurs and small businesses. 


The next meeting of the Upstate Entrepreneur Ecosystem will be, on Tuesday, April 20 from 3:00pm-4:00pm. The group will hear from Kunal Parikh, Policy Advisor to Senator Tim Scott about legislative updates and what to expect from the new Administration. Here is a link to register.

While we have not been able to connect in-person as much over the last year as we would like, TATT is still making sure we can stay connected virtually through our regular TATT CHAT.

Be sure and join us every-other-Thursday as we discuss key issues with leaders from across the region and state. The pre-event networking starts at 2:40 pm and the TATT CHAT starts at 3 pm. In addition to our keynote speaker, we also receive updates from organizations and communities across the region.
