SECRETS OF THE YOGA SUTRA DEDICATED LIVESTREAMS

The word ‘sutra’ means “thread.” The text is called the Yoga Sutra, in part, because it threads together the teachings of Yoga and also because it serves to “suture” together i.e., heal the fragmented parts of our mind. The result of dedicating oneself to the guiding principles of its teachings, are a path of self-inquiry exalting all levels of being: mind, body, breath, soul, and Source.

The Yoga Sutra is often taught in an overly simplistic, even reductionist manner in which it is common to pare its teachings to a fraction of the entire text––Ashtanga Yoga or the 8-limbed path i.e., niyama, yama, asana, etc.

Throughout the course, specific practices bring key teachings of the Yoga Sutra to life––for example, the keys and signs of mastering asana, pranayama, and devotion, the subtle distinctions of states of meditation i.e., samadhi. Thus, the course’s guided practices provide the experiential basis to illumine the most essential themes through dynamic asana, vinyasa, pranayama and meditation sequences.

Lecture content, together with guided asana and meditation practices makes it possible for teachers (and dedicated students) to unlock subtle and powerful wisdom hidden in the sacred text. Collectively, we outline Yoga’s path for using the mind to achieve greater self–mastery.

STUDY WITH ROD IN GILBERT ARIZONA NEXT MONTH!

The ancient traditions of yoga and tantra provide invaluable tools and precious insights for resolving the challenges that most of us face today. These are the practices––yoga nidra, asana, bandha, pranayama, mudra, and the steps that steer us to the highest stages of meditation––that lead to greater resilience, the dissolution of fragmentation and fear, unsurpassed calm, and connection (with ourselves and others).

Unfortunately there are so few authoritative resources that show us how these practices work together and how to approach them systematically. This is why the ancient scripture, the Yoga Taravali, is such an exceptional guide and companion for anyone who practices (or teaches) yoga, no matter their level.

Taravali means “multitude of stars” and the aim of this text is to highlight the brightest points of light of yogic and tantric techniques.

Join us. Over the course of this immersive weekend, Rod will describe the key milestones of these practices outlined in this extraordinary text. Most importantly, he will guide you into experiences that will touch your heart and illuminate your mind. As you are led into each of the distinct practices outlined in the Taravali’s 29 verses, you will gain an understanding of the journey (beginning, middle and end) of practice.

WORK 1:1 WITH ROD

This 4-session series is intended to help ensure that previous Four Desires participants experience lasting change and truly benefit from the course. Through regular meetings over the course of 40 days while integrating new processes of self-reflection and feedback, we’ll increase the likelihood that you will successfully become firmly established in your new cognitive and behavioral patterns––your Sva Dharma.

The centerpiece of the revised and enhanced ETFD program includes a personal, one-on-one meeting between Rod and each individual in the program to provide an opportunity to deeply reflect and improve upon the work you did during the course. Enrollment is limited.

Your private session will also provide you with personal pranayama, meditation and/or yoga nidra guidance. During your individual session, Rod will recommend specific practice(s) for you based on your needs in the larger context of your life, as well as TFD, i.e., that address your vikalpa(s) as well as the dictates of your Dharma Code. The result will be that you will come away with both clarity about your process with TFD as well as a personal practice.

The four meetings take place over 40 days, instead of 3 weeks. Research makes it clear that we need at least 40 days of practicing a new pattern before it becomes firmly established. Also, you will be asked to partner with someone in the group to track one another’s progress between our livestream sessions.

We will meet online on the following dates: March 27, April 10 & 17 & May 8 1:30-2:45pm MT. The sessions will be recorded for those who cannot attend “live.”
