I've been with Tennessee Health Care Campaign a year and a half now. In this time we've dealt with some serious issues and hopefully you trust that I am not one to resort to scare tactics.
The current attempt to convert TennCare into a block grant is the most serious threat to currently Medicaid eligible children and caregivers ever.
Also, it leaves
no room
for providing coverage to students, veterans, small business owners, and others who do not have employer-based health insurance.
At no time during the last election, or in any public meetings were block grants part of the public discourse. In fact, Tennesseans have asked for improved protections and increased access,
not less.
If Tennessee is as fiscally sound as our legislators boast and TennCare receives national recognition for efficiencies, why else pass Block Grants if not to needlessly purge more children and families from TennCare?
