Dear River Forest residents,
This past Monday, I attended the Lake & Lathrop settlement conference between the former developer and Wintrust Bank. After several hours of discussion, the parties were unable to reach an agreement. Though this is unfortunate, the Judge has directed parties to continue negotiating and assured me that the site will be properly maintained during this time. We are hopeful that the parties will continue to work toward a resolution over the coming weeks before the next hearing on
January 29, 2026.
At Monday’s Village Board meeting, the Board issued a proclamation honoring Fenwick High School for winning its second Illinois High School Association Football State Championship. The team will be formally recognized at the January 12, 2026 Board Meeting, and residents are invited to attend and help congratulate the players and coaches on this outstanding achievement.
Sincerely,

Cathy Adduci, Village President
Village of River Forest
| | Do You Need a Warming Center? | | As frigid temperatures settle in, residents are encouraged to take extra precautions to stay safe and look out for one another - with a specific focus on our older adults, individuals with disabilities, and neighbors who may have difficulty leaving their homes. Everyone should dress in layers, keep pets indoors as much as possible, protect exposed pipes from freezing, and avoid using unsafe heating sources. If you or someone you know would like information on warming center locations, or for additional cold-weather resources, click here. | |
Tennis Club Withdraws
Application
| The River Forest Tennis Club has withdrawn its planned development application for proposed court lighting at its facility for evening play. The project would have allowed evening lighting until 9:30 p.m. As a result of the withdrawal, the Development Review Board public hearing previously scheduled for January 15 has been canceled. Established in 1905, the Tennis Club has been a valued community institution, and the Village will share any future updates should the Club choose to revisit their proposal. | | | Light Up the Night THIS Saturday | This Saturday, December 20, the Kiwanis Club of River Forest & Oak Park invites the community to take part in its annual “Light Up the Night” celebration. Luminary kits - which include white paper bags, LED tea lights, sand for stability, and easy setup instructions - are available for $10, with all proceeds benefiting local youth programs. Kits can be picked up from the front porch at 1043 Keystone Avenue. Payment may be made by cash, or a check payable to Kiwanis of RFOP, which should be placed in the provided envelope through the mail slot. | | | River Forest residents aged 60 and older can receive help with everyday home maintenance through North West Housing Partnership (NWHP) Oak Park–River Forest Senior Home Repair Program. Elgin Recycling ensures your lights get a second life by separating and baling them before they’re shredded and sold to foundries and mills across the U.S. This keeps materials out of landfills and supports a greener future. Learn more here.
