The number of Americans taking part in at least one sporting activity has taken a step in the right direction. The 2021 Sports, Fitness, and Leisure Activities Topline Participation Report shows that 229.7 million Americans were active in 2020, 8 million more than in 2019.

Southern Establishes Paul Scarpa Scholarships
The Southern Tennis Foundation, the charitable arm of the USTA Southern Section, has established college scholarships to honor former Furman men’s tennis coach Paul Scarpa. The initial endowment comes from more than $60,000 in contributions.
Tennis for America
Seeking Applicants
The ITA, together with AmeriCorps VISTA and National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) organizations, is working to use tennis to help tackle poverty by placing Tennis For America VISTA Fellows throughout the country. Applications for the project’s second year are being accepted through April 4.
