MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Tentative Agreement Reached

I wish to inform you that the NLTA has reached a tentative agreement in the current round of negotiations. Please note the below important dates during November and December that will be of interest to members:


November 18

Special Joint Council meeting during which Branch presidents will receive details on the tentative agreement and approve the wording of the ballot to the membership.


November 20 - November 28

Details of the tentative agreement, including a copy of the tentative agreement and a presentation, will be available to all teachers. Four in-person presentations for members will take place in specific locations, as well as a series of virtual presentations. Please see the below dates and times. Pre-registration is required for the virtual sessions via the link provided.


  • November 21 @ 3:30 p.m. - St. John's, The Capital Hotel
  • November 21 @ 7:00 p.m. - St. John's, The Capital Hotel
  • November 22 @ 4:00 p.m. - Gander, The Quality Inn
  • November 22 @ 4:00 p.m. - Virtual Presentation
  • November 23 @ 4:00 p.m. - Corner Brook, Arts & Culture Centre
  • November 27 @ 3:30 p.m. - Virtual Presentation
  • November 27 @ 7:00 p.m. - Virtual Presentation
  • November 28 @ 3:30 p.m. - Virtual Presentation
  • November 28 @ 7:00 p.m. - Virtual Presentation

Please note that the schedule for virtual presentations may be adjusted and/or an additional virtual session may be added depending on interest. 


December 5 - December 7

The ratification vote by members on the tentative agreement will be conducted electronically from December 5-7. Please check your email over the coming weeks for information on how to access the voting system. Any members who wish to update their contact information in the NLTA member database may do so by clicking here.


I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the NLTA negotiating team for their work and contributions to the collective bargaining process. I encourage all members to read the tentative agreement, attend either and in-person or virtual session, and make sure to vote.
