CAPTAIN YOGI'S USELESS
BUT IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Hello Everybody!

The Summer grind continues! As most of you have seen, we are starting a new chapter for our social meeting at The Road House Café in Harrisburg this month and hope to see as many of you as we can. And of course, Dennis will be spending the evening with us playing our old favorites and some new favorites. Sounds like the weather is going to cooperate, so maybe even an outside event!

August is a busy month for the Parrotheads. It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year, the 3rd Annual Jakie Invitational benefitting the PA Wounded Warriors Foundation. I know the ladies have been working hard on the event this year with bigger raffle prizes! I have it on good authority that they approaching a full tournament, so if you haven’t signed up, get off your duff and do it!! This is ALWAYS a great event for just having fun and spending time with our friends and this year, being entertained by Tropical Soul!

We have secured a date for our 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Parrotheads in Amish Paradise at the Wyndham Garden Court Yard on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 (not the Saturday before Easter this time). We have all the information coming out over the next several weeks, but mark it on your calendar and we will be inviting ALL members past and present and hope to have a couple of surprise guests lined up also. We will have rooms available for overnight stays and YES, there is a large indoor pool in the courtyard where you can listen to Tropical Soul, Version ….yet to be announced(maybe one of the surprise guests?). We are also looking for volunteers for the committee, so if you are interested in helping, please let us know!

Last but not least elections. We have several spots up for election this year, including yours truly and we are looking for some fresh members. It really doesn’t take a lot of time and we always can use a fresh perspective. The only way we can ‘Make The Amish Great Again’ is with your participation. Would you like to see something different, have ideas on how we can better the club, run for a position! We will be taking nominations for President, Treasurer and 2 Cruise Directors. If you can’t be at the social and want to nominate someone, please contact the elections officer, Rick Clapper with your nomination!

Hope everyone continues to have a great and safe summer!!

CRUISING BACK IN THE TEQUILA TIMES

Cruisin Back in Tequila Times

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.  A few days ago this picture came up on my Facebook memories page.  Wow, did it make me smile. This photo was taken on August 1, 2013 at Heritage Hills on a beautiful summer evening where a group of long time members of Parrotheads in Amish Paradise got together to listen to Scott Kirby.
So many memories popped into my mind remembering the people in this picture.
First of all, Scott Kirby was one of the first Trop Rock musicians PHIAP ever brought to this area.  I don't remember the date but it was at the then Holiday Inn in West York where Fenders is now.  Tropical Soul was opening for him, not any of the versions we know today but the original Tropical Soul with Dennis and  AL.
Back to the picture:  So many people who at one time were board members for PHIAP, Kid's who have grown up with PHIAP, Husbands and wives who have met through PHIAP. Three former Captains, the host of one of our best older fundraiser "The Lobster Feast", the musician who put PHIAP on the map, members who have moved to warmer waters, the first person I met at my first PHIAP meeting, our Founder and mostly, people who over the years have all been large parts of the PHIAP PHamily.
It was a fun night, it always is when you have good music and good PHamily.
It seems, as I continue to look at tthe picture, more memories come to mind. But for today I'll just go with these few and save the others for later.
For those of you in the picture, send me an e-mail for next month about what you remember about the people in this picture.
