CAPTAIN YOGI'S USELESS
BUT IMPORTANT INFORMATION
WOW, WOW just WOW! What a party we had on Saturday celebrating our 20
year anniversary! First and foremost, I want to thank the anniversary committee for putting on a great party, Sue McCaughey, Scott ‘Crasher’ Braasch, Rick Clapper, Tom Orndorf and Lynn Stewart Krieger and our volunteer check in host Ginny Isabella. Tropical Soul version 3. something was killing it with Dennis, Mark and Danny and provided great music to listen and dance too, and even got your captain out on the floor for his rare but seldom seen ‘Yogi Dance’!
It was great to see the gathering of old and new members from as far as Florida make it up for the event and gave everybody time to reminisce and catch up with friends they haven’t seen for a long time. One of the high lights for me was to be able to call all the former captains to recognize them with former board members and announce our total contributions over the past 20 years at over one million dollars. We were also able to recognize our two board members whose terms ended last year, Phyliss and Jane Hess, for all their contributions to the board and the club. With no real surprise, probably two of the quietest members, but hardest working members, the Breski’s, Karen and Metro winning the Aloha Jakie award for accumulating the most points last year. The Captain’s Choice went to Deb Fink, one of hardest working, behind the scenes board members and also participates on the mini golf committee among many other things with the club. Congratulations to all!
The same morning of the party, we hosted the Mid-Atlantic Leaders Retreat to discuss the current state of the Mid-Atlantic club’s successes and challenges. A lot of good information was gathered on the successes and we have a lot of great ideas but it seemed the common theme among ALL clubs was the declining membership, which will be a focus both on the local and national level this year. As I’m sure you saw, most of the leaders stayed over and celebrated with us, getting compliments from them all on how they enjoyed it!
Please keep a look out for more information on the Corn Hole Tournament in June and of course the 4
Annual Jakie invitational in August with details to soon follow. If you have any ideas or events you would like PHIAP to be a part of, please let myself or any of the board members know, we’re always looking for events for the club and who we can help in the community.
Pools Soon to be OPEN!
