WEEK OF OCTOBER 8-12, 2018
Principal's message

October 2, 2018

Principal's Message

The 2018-2019 academic year is starting out strong with a robust and focused group of STEM scholars. We will start highlighting students' work products and course specific Problem-Based Learning projects beginning mid-October. For now, below are some friendly reminders and some new items for your review. And thank you for being an incredibly supportive community. The Tesla High School Staff and Administration are humbled by your generosity.

Safety:
If you are a returning T-STEM Family, you know the issues regarding Hwy 202. We are continuing to educate both students and families about the congestion, speed, and number of accidents on this stretch of road. In addition, there should not be any students walking, running, or biking on 202...nor should any of us be accessing Santana Trucking across the road as a turnaround. Traffic on the eastside is intense for all of us, and we (parents, students, faculty) are all having to leave earlier to get to Tesla on time daily.  Thanks for your cooperation; we appreciate it!! And...Be safe out there.

Closed Campus:
Tesla STEM High School continues to be a closed campus. Students may not leave campus during the instructional day without pre-arranged parent permission.

Communication Protocol at T-STEM:
We go directly to the source: If a T-STEM student has a question regarding an assignment, project, etc., then the student will need to email and/or talk directly to his/her instructor; if a student has an issue, the student discusses the problem with the teacher. If there is a need to further the discussion, the student will ask his/her academic counselor.
We attempt to solve the problem at one level before moving to another. If the parent and/or teacher feel that they are not resolving the issue, they may proceed to the next level, the student's administrator according to the student's last name.
  • Ms. Duenas - Students with last names beginning with A - P
  • Ms. Burt     - Students with last names beginning with Q - Z
Faculty utilizes office hours and/or email as communication tools. Instructors will make every effort to return emails within 48 hours.

Your Donations to PTSA Support a Unique Education at Tesla STEM HS

Did you know that our scholars get to use some really cool things funded by PTSA?
● 3D printers
● iRiS fluorescent microscope
● maker station
● subscriptions to Spanish language & current events magazines
● kilns
● much more!
How is this possible, especially considering some of the equipment is industry-level? It is all in thanks to the families who have donated to the PTSA over the years! We are also extremely grateful to the Tesla STEM families who have donated so far this year. And if you are still considering it, please don't hesitate. Your contribution is invaluable in making an impact on all scholars. It is easy to donate via the website: hover on 'Join PTSA', then go to 'Donate'. Please note, if you are a first-time user on the website, you will be prompted to create an account (it is free) before you can donate. It is only through your generosity that we will be able to continue to fund grants and offer programs benefiting our scholars. Thank you!

PTSA is here to help!

Tesla STEM PTSA believes that financial need shouldn't be a barrier to students fully participating in the Tesla STEM HS curriculum. To support that, the PTSA has partnered with the school counselors and Principal to provide scholarship funds to students in need.

Families who need help with fees and supplies are encouraged to contact their counselor at STEM with their requests.

Confidentiality of such requests is strictly maintained - requests are considered by the school and no one at PTSA knows the names of the requestors.

Please don't hesitate to contact the counselors, if PTSA can help.
