MESSAGE FROM BLAKE COOPER
D
ear Friends,
Curt Thompson writes,
"the process of reflecting on and telling others your story, and the way you experience others hearing it, actually shapes the story and the very neural correlates, or networks, it represents." In other words, we thrive when we listen and tell. Without it, we settle for a life of reactivity, not reflection - stuck in our reptilian brain, disconnected from both of neo-cortical brain and from other human beings. Simply put; telling your story is healthy.
Another school year is rapidly coming to a close and we are amidst the "testing window" that our state calls STAAR. We MUST overcome all that can be used against us with this information by showing everything positive happening in our district. We must also build on the positive information from these tests and show how great public education is in Texas. I hope you will work with your community partners to help spread all the positive things happening in public education. We can, and must work together to tell our stories by listening and telling all that is happening in our schools.
Thank you for being a supporter of Friends of Texas Public Schools
!
Sincerely,
Blake W. Cooper
