October 18th marks not only the birthday of the talented singer-songwriter but also the 26th anniversary of his debut performance at Stubb’s in Lubbock, TX, back in 1998 while he was a Texas Tech University student.

With 34 number one hits—and soon to be 35 with “Friday Night”—Wade Bowen has established himself as a cornerstone of country music. Over two decades and more than 4,000 performances, he’s captivated audiences with his songwriting and live shows. Bowen draws inspiration from American legends like Guy Clark, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Robert Earl Keen, positioning himself as a vital voice in the Texas troubadour tradition that spans over 50 years.

His accolades speak volumes, having recently won Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year at the 2024 T3R Awards—marking his second consecutive year to sweep all three categories. Recognized as one of the genre’s most genuine modern voices, Bowen blends traditional roots with innovative sounds. He is dedicated to crafting unique songs with literary depth, continually evolving his musical landscape to reflect his life experiences.

Rehoming

Okie Country 101.7 KTFX in Muskogee, OK is located inside the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. Renovations on the building will begin in early 2025 and the radio station will need to be relocated.

The station has been located in the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame for more than a year. Once the renovations are completed, Okie Country will have a new broadcasting studio in the facility.
