This Stockyards Is His Backyard

Fort Worth, Texas has officially declared October 22 as Casey Donahew Day, honoring the acclaimed country artist and recognizing his iconic single "Stockyards" as the official anthem of the Fort Worth Stockyards. This celebration underscores the deep connection between Donahew and the city, particularly given his longstanding history with one of Texas's most beloved venues.

Throughout his remarkable 22-year career, Casey has graced the stage at Billy Bob's Texas over 30 times, and each performance has been a sell-out, showcasing his enduring popularity and the loyalty of his fanbase.

On October 22, 2022, a significant milestone was celebrated as Donahew received a plaque on stage, forever commemorating the day as Casey Donahew Day. In his lighthearted style, he quipped that this honor might just provide him with a solid excuse for any future speeding tickets!

Earlier this month, Casey thrilled another packed audience at Billy Bob's, where he shared the stage with his two sons. Zane, who showcased his drumming skills, and Zaks, who joined his father for a heartfelt duet, added a personal touch to the evening.

“Saturday Night 10/12 at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, TX…what a night! I got to share the hometown stage with my two boys to a sold-out crowd at the world’s largest honky tonk! Thank you all for coming out! Watch out, world— the Donahew boys are growing up,” he expressed, radiating pride and excitement.

Adding to the excitement of his recent performances, Casey's 12th album, Never Not Love You, was released last month. The album features a collection of new tracks, including fan favorites like "Oklahoma," "Running Out of Time," and "Hungover Again," further solidifying his place in the country music scene. As he continues to connect with fans through his music and live performances, Casey Donahew remains a cherished figure in Texas and beyond.

Cheatham Street Celebrates 50th Anniversay with a Little Help From Friends

Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, Texas, celebrated a remarkable milestone on Sunday, October 20th, marking its 50th Anniversary with an unforgettable outdoor street party. This vibrant event featured some of the biggest names in Texas Country music, drawing fans and artists alike to commemorate the iconic venue that has played a pivotal role in the state's musical landscape.

Among the star-studded lineup were Texas Music legends Randy Rogers, Parker McCollum, Pat Green, Jack Ingram, and Ray Wylie Hubbard, who all took to the streets of San Marcos to pay tribute to a venue steeped in history and culture. The atmosphere was electric as these celebrated musicians jammed together, reflecting the spirit of collaboration and camaraderie that Cheatham Street embodies.

Randy Rogers, a prominent figure in Texas music, purchased Cheatham Street Warehouse in 2017 following the passing of its founder, Kent Finlay. This acquisition was not just a business decision; it was a heartfelt commitment to honor Finlay's legacy and continue his mission of nurturing emerging talent. Rogers himself recorded his debut album at Cheatham Street in 2000, making the venue an integral part of his musical journey.

Over the years, Cheatham Street Warehouse has served as a launching pad for countless artists, including legends like George Strait and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Its intimate setting and supportive atmosphere have allowed aspiring musicians to showcase their talents and connect with audiences in a meaningful way.

As the 50th anniversary celebration unfolded, it became clear that Cheatham Street Warehouse is more than just a venue; it is a cherished institution within the Texas music community. The event not only celebrated its storied past but also looked forward to a future where new talent can thrive, ensuring that the spirit of Texas music continues to resonate for generations to come.
