Celebrating the Life of the True Texas Music Chart Founder, Ed Shane

The Texas Music Chart was a significant platform for showcasing Texas-based artists and their music. It focused on genres like Texas Country, Red Dirt, and Americana, providing a weekly ranking of songs based on airplay data from radio stations across the state. The chart played a vital role in promoting local talent and connecting artists with their audiences.

It’s been 10 years since Ed Shane passed away on March 21, 2015. We miss him every day.

Ed Shane, founded Shane Media and was instrumental in the Texas Music Chart's creation and success. His vision helped the chart become a trusted resource for both fans and industry professionals, celebrating the unique sound and culture of Texas music.

Shane Media Services also published Best In Texas Music Magazine and shaped the radio industry through his innovative career. Starting as a DJ in Atlanta, he rose to Program Director at stations like WPLO-FM, KKDJ, and WGLD-FM before managing Houston's KRBE and later joining KTRH. In 1977, he launched Shane Media, providing programming and research for major radio companies nationwide.

A prolific writer, Ed penned college textbooks, industry best-sellers, and essays for academic journals, leaving an indelible mark on radio, media, and music.

Thank you Ed and Pam Shane.
