COJO BREAKS UP A FIGHT

It was a surprising turn of events at Cody Johnson’s concert in San Antonio this past Saturday. Moments after he performed “God Bless America” and delivered a heartfelt message about unity and standing together, a fight broke out in the crowd. Police quickly intervened, and those involved were escorted out of the venue. Once the situation was under control, Johnson resumed the show, undeterred and committed to keeping the positive energy going.

KOE HAS YOU SURROUNDED

Back in April, Texas Music Daily reported that Koe Wetzel gave fans a taste of new music during a show at the Hard Rock Cafe, where he debuted his unreleased track “Surrounded.” Fast forward to now, and the song has become a staple in the setlist for the I’m the Problem Tour, earning a regular spot in his live performances.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE ROAD STAYS ON THE ROAD

CBS is set to launch The Road this fall, a new series spotlighting rising music stars as they vie for the coveted role of opening act for country icon Keith Urban. With powerhouse producers Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan behind the scenes and Gretchen Wilson stepping in as the tour manager, the show promises some serious country grit. Representing Texas Music in the competition are homegrown talents Billie Jo Jones, Cody Hibbard, and Olivia Harms.

CHARLEY CROCKETT GAVE EVAN FELKER HIS CD

Did You Know? Charley Crockett, hustling outside Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, CDs in hand, trying to spread his music the old-fashioned way—couldn’t even get into the show. In a twist straight out of a country music fairytale, he unknowingly hands a copy to none other than Evan Felker of the Turnpike Troubadours. Evan passes it along to his booking agent Jon Folk, and boom—Crockett’s big break was set in motion. Proof that sometimes, standing outside the party is how you end up headlining the next one.
