Sandee June Makes Landfall

Galveston, TX had its own storm brewing this weekend—but it wasn’t in the skies. Sandee June’s fans and a dozen Texas/Red Dirt radio programmers gathered on the Gulf Coast to celebrate her first #1 single, “Hurricane.” The celebration hit full throttle as Sandee delivered a crowd-stirring live performance of the chart-topper, then surprised the room with two unreleased songs that had everyone buzzing about what’s coming next.

Roberta's Last Rodeo

For the past 5½ years, Roberta Roberts has been the familiar morning voice of 107.7 The Red Dirt Rebel—and the good-natured target of her co-host JR’s jokes, who affectionately dubbed her “Memaw.” Today, she announced she’s stepping away from the mic and leaving the Lubbock community she’s long called home. Her final show airs this Thursday, closing out a memorable run with a laugh and a wave.
