Story Time: Brooke Graham’s latest single, “Me Time,” is climbing the Texas Regional Radio charts with heartfelt resonance, and its creation story is as touching as the song itself. The inspiration for this track came from a serendipitous gift and a deep personal revelation.
In 2018, Brooke’s father stumbled upon something truly special at a flea market south of San Antonio. For just $15, he bought a purple Walt Disney Hannah Montana electric guitar—a purchase that seemed whimsical at first. But when he returned home, he quickly strung it up and, with a grin, announced to Brooke, “The damn thing works!”
When Brooke plugged in the guitar, the melody for “Me Time” flowed effortlessly from its strings. For weeks prior, a single line had been looping in her mind: “Rollin’ down a midnight highway, wishin’ you were sittin’ beside me but you ain’t.” As soon as she played the guitar, the song’s melody and lyrics poured out of her in just ten minutes. Such a spontaneous burst of creativity is rare for songwriters, and Brooke knew she had something special.
The song tells a relatable story: planning a getaway with a friend to Port Aransas, only for them to back out at the last minute. What could have been a disappointment turned into an unexpected gift—some much-needed “me time.”
When asked which line in the song is her favorite, Brooke responds, "My favorite line has always been 'I wrote my troubles in the sand today…and smiled as the tide washed them all away.' It’s a reminder that sometimes being alone is exactly what you need to find peace and clarity."
Brooke's personal touch is evident in every line, and the song has resonated deeply with listeners who appreciate the need for self-care and reflection. As “Me Time” continues to rise on the charts, it’s a testament to the power of unexpected gifts and the universal need for a little time to oneself.
