Gotcha!: Del Rio’s own, William Beckmann signed with Warner Music Nashville. The label will release a new track called “Not That Strong” to DSPs Friday and Texas radio will have a single in October.
For those of you who attended the 2023 T3R Texas Music Awards in Arlington, TX, you got a taste of William’s bilingual skills at the after party when he jammed with artists like Rico Gonzalez of Kin Faux and others.
Beckmann has had two number one singles in Texas with “Damn This Heart of Mine” and “Tennessee Drinkin’.”
Beckmann won the 2019 T3R Texas Music Awards Future Faces show and played on the awards show the next night where he met Randy Rogers. The two became fast friends with Randy managing him for a brief period of time before introducing William to his current manager, Matthew Miller with Triple 8 Management.
Beckmann has opened for all the major acts in Texas Music including Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Parker McCollum, and Charley Crockett. He also has sold out headlining shows at Gruene Hall and Billy Bob’s Texas.
William posted the news on Facebook and said, “I am beyond proud to have signed a record deal with Warner Music Nashville. They believe in what I do and make me feel right at home and that is all an artist can truly ask for. Here’s to my new home and new music to come!!”

My Texas: CD Texas Weekly News & Features reported today that singer-songwriter Josh Abbott was one of several speakers who testified on artificial intelligence during an interim hearing by a Texas Senate committee.
The growth of AI is one of many topics lawmakers will tackle in the upcoming legislative session.
“It’s very hard to put guardrails around all of the bad things it might generate,” said Dr. Matthew Lease, a professor at the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. One concern raised was AI’s potential impact on November and future elections, and how it can be eliminated or minimized. “One thing we can do is sort of put restrictions that when people are using generative AI or AI technologies in general to produce advertising ... That there’s appropriate disclosure in terms of what sorts of content there is real and not,” Lease said.
The panel also heard ideas from other governments, including lawmakers in New York and Colorado, to limit bias in AI making decisions on housing, health care, and employment. Texas country singer-songwriter Josh Abbott also testified.
Abbott is concerned generative AI could copy those things from artists and hurt them. “My voice and my image and my name, they set me apart,” said Abbott. “It’s literally my brand. They can create a new record of me performing a song that I might not ever sing, and they profit from it. They might also create a video of me saying something that I would never say and ruin my reputation."
