Josh Abbott’s first two gold singles “She’s Like Texas” and “Oh, Tonight” both hit the 500,000 sales milestone as well but the Texas Tech alum can’t help but wonder if he still has a career, according to Rolling Stone’s new article by Josh Crutchmer (August 29, 2024–full article at Rolling Stone).

🔥 HEAD TO 15 TEXAS INDIE RECORD STORES TO HEAR GEORGE STRAIT’S “COWBOYS AND DREAMERS” 2-DAYS EARLY WITH LISTENING PARTIES ON WED SEPT 4‼️

💿 Our Texas Hero George Strait’s “Cowboys And Dreamers” Arrives Everywhere Else Friday, Sept. 6‼️

🎸 15 Texas Indie record stores listed below are celebrating George Strait’s forthcoming 31st studio record, Cowboys And Dreamers, with 87 locations total across the country hosting listening events on Wednesday, September 4 – two-days prior to the album’s release on Friday, Sept. 6 according to UMG Nashville. 🎶 Produced by Chuck Ainlay, who has been mixing Strait records since 1985, Tony Brown (Strait’s 1993’s Easy Come, Easy Go; 2008’s Troubadour) and Strait, the album’s title comes from a song penned by Jessie Jo Dillon, Keith Gattis and Bubba Strait. “I thought I should name the whole album Cowboys And Dreamers as I feel like the last of a dying breed, trying to find where I fit,” Strait offers of the song that opens with ‘Some days I feel like the last of a dying breed, Trying to find where I fit; Somewhere between high on top of the world, And fighting with calling it quits.’ While the Keith Gattis reaffirming “I Wish I Could Say” offers, ‘Wish I could tell you how the world ain’t ended, And how it’s all going to be ok.’

Randall King Reveals his Favorite Wade Bowen Album

Randall King recently talked with EntertainmentFocus.com.

"My favorite record of his (Wade Bowen's) will always be ‘The Given' from 2012. Him on the cover standing on that old '86? Dude, that record was unbelievable. ‘Before These Walls Were Blue' is still one of my favorite songs," King said.

"Wade started playing in the same place that me and another band at this festival, Flatland Cavalry, started playing at. We all started at the Blue Light Live in Lubbock, Texas. Wade was the first one to break out of the Blue Light.

Another Guinness World Record Holder: Texas Music Daily reported on 8/26 that our Texas Music hero Jack Ingram holds a Guinness World record for the most consecutive radio interviews in 24 hours. Another Texas Music Daily hero also holds a Guinness World Record. The King of Country Music, George Strait, holds a Guinness World Record for the Highest Grossing country Music Tour Per Show back in 2000. Is there another Guinness World Record award coming for the selling out Kyle Field in College Station this year?

Viva Las Vegas:  The Powell Brothers have a big day in Las Vegas this Sunday. First, the boys will sing the National Anthem in front of a record setting crowd at Allegiant Stadium before the sold out LSU vs. USC football game. The game will be televised on ABC at 6:30 Central Time. After performing the National Anthem, they will headline Blake Shelton's new bar on the Vegas Strip, Ole Red! Their new single "The Wait" is currently top 30 on the Texas Music charts.

Parent Conference:  Texas Music artist John Baumann posted on FB that the Western District of Texas Assistant US Attorneys named a conference room in honor of his father.

Mean Gruene: The New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce filmed a commercial at Kin Faux's Gruene Hall show recently. Be on the lookout for Rico and the gang in the ads.
