🙏 RIP TO OUR TEXAS MUSIC HERO CHARLIE ROBISON WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN 60 ON SEPTEMBER 1‼️

🎸 Charlie Robison, the Texas singer-songwriter, would have turned 60 years old today. He passed away on September 10, 2023 last year in a San Antonio hospital after suffering from cardiac arrest and other complications, according to Wikipedia.

💥 Charlie was born in Houston, Texas on September 1, 1964. After a knee injury at Southwest Texas State University ended a potential football career, Charlie Robison came to Austin, Texas in the late 1980s and had stints in the bands Chaparral, Millionaire Playboys, and Two Hoots and a Holler. He went solo with his album “Bandera” in 1996. Charlie subsequently signed with Sony and released “Life of the Party” on Sony’s subsidiary Lucky Dog Records. The album gave him three of his biggest hits including “My Hometown.”

🎟️ As the brother to Texas Music artist Bruce Robison, Charlie had other ties to the Texas Music scene as he was married to Emily Strayer of The Dixie Chicks from 1999-2008 and had three children with her. In addition, Charlie and his second wife, Kristen Robison, had a son in February 2020.

Robert Earl Keen's Annual Homecoming & Fan Appreciation Day Weekend:

Robert Earl Keen’s 3rd Annual Homecoming Weekend and Fan Appreciation Day wrapped up last night at Floore’s Country Store in Helotes, TX.

“Celebrating my fans is a cornerstone of my career,” says Robert Earl Keen. “For the past 2 years, we’ve hosted folks from across the country, the globe even, for a free show that has a singular goal: showering my fans in appreciation, giving them back the love they’ve given me since the 1980s.”

Robert Earl Keen’s Annual Homecoming Weekend includes a Fan Appreciation Day, an event where fans enter a lottery to win tickets and if selected, are treated to a free all-day outdoor party on Labor Day hosted by REK, and featuring a house band with many surprise guests and sit-ins. New this year, on Sept. 1, REK and a high caliber of handpicked songwriting friends that swapped stories and songs in an intimate setting inside at Floore’s.

The artist lineup included William Beckmann, Ray Benson, Cody Canada, Georgia Parker, Waylon Payne, Steve Poltz, Max and Heather Stalling and Jamie Lin Wilson.
