What I Learned During
Texas Snowmageddon 2021
Dear Divine Friend, 
              

The Texas Snowmageddon was definitely something I was not prepared for. Prior to the snow, I monitored the weather and was prepared to stay home during the cold storm. Unlike the northern states, Texas was not equipped to deal with the winter storm. I was not prepared to be without power for over 36 hours. Our power grid couldn't handle it which resulted in millions of people without power. During those power outages, I had a combined 3 hours of power. I learned the following lessons.


Lessons Learned during the
Texas Snowmageddon 2021
  1. A backup generator is worth its weight in gold. 
  2. A battery operated radio can be used to listen to the news. 
  3. Candles are not just for decoration. Have plenty for a light source. 
  4. Don't forget a lighter. 
  5. Double check the batteries in your flashlights often. 
  6. Invest in a cell phone power bank. (The big one, not the free one that's the size of lipstick.) 
  7. Always have plenty of fresh water. (For drinking and to flush the toilet.)
  8. Assure you have enough toilet paper and paper towels. 
  9. Have plenty of blankets and towels.
  10. In case of emergencies, always have powered or can milk for babies. 
  11. A manual can opener is a must. 
  12. Have plenty of rock salt and other deicers.
  13. Don't forget wood for burning.
  14. Non-perishable food is good. You'll need more than just chips.
  15. A fully stocked and updated first-aid kit is important.

I hope this email can help prepare you for an unexpected winter storm. I do understand that there are several additional items needed. This is just a list from my own experience.
