Prevention Counselor

There are HUD-approved counselors across Texas trained to help homeowners prevent foreclosure.

Locate a counselor by calling: 1-888-995-HOPE or by visiting www.findaforeclosurecounselor.org

Don't ignore phone calls or mail from your mortgage lender. Contact your mortgage lender to discuss your circumstances as soon as you realize you are unable to make your mortgage payment. Although there's no guarantee that your lender will be able to provide you with a workout option, most are willing to explore every option.

foreclosure scam

Scam artists are taking advantage of homeowners who are desperate to save their home by promising, for a fee, to work with their lender and save their home.  Free resources are available through HUD-approved counselors.

Scam artists can only be stopped if they are reported.  You can file a compliant directly with the Texas Attorney General's Office:   https://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complain.shtml

The Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) is a state-chartered nonprofit corporation.  Our mission is to serve and facilitate housing for low, very low and extremely low-income Texans and other underserved populations.  TSAHC is a member and fundraising partner of the Texas Foreclosure Prevention Task Force.
